Chris "no excuses" Weidman
In recent weeks, though, news has leaked that Weidman had a significantly broken foot going into his fight with Luke Rockhold at UFC 194 in December. The last thing he wants is people saying he's making an excuse, but he's not going to lie about it if asked.

"I say these things, because they came out," Weidman told MMA Fighting in a recent interview. "It's a fact. There's no excuses."

"I knew what I was getting myself into, but I still thought I could go out there and beat him," Weidman said. "Even with that stuff. And he proved that I was wrong. He came out to fight. He was better than me that night."

"I know what I'm capable of," Weidman said. "I know my potential and I know I wasn't close to it. The fact that because of what I've accomplished in the past gives me the opportunity to get a rematch is a great situation to be in. In most situations, people don't get the second chance, especially right away. So, I'm very grateful for the opportunity I have. There's no question in my mind that I'm gonna go out there and make a statement, completely dominate him and make sure everybody knows the last fight was a fluke."

"I feel like he's cocky and I gave him a bigger head and gave him something to be even more cocky about," Weidman said. "It sucks for me. I've gotta suck it up. I got a chance to deflate the head. That's the goal. I have to go back in there and feed him some humble pie."

"[The loss] really allowed me to grow in so many ways that I wouldn't have been able to grow otherwise," Weidman said.

in other words...it should have ended sooner?

Seems like every camp he has is the "worst camp ever."

The only fluke was you making it to the fourth round. Rockhold via 2nd round TKO.

Still rooting for Luke, just like the first fight (still salty anderson fan).

It would be much better for Weidman to keep it quiet until he actually beats Rockhold. I think he can, even if i favour Luke in 7 out of 10 fights. For me he just has more tools in the box and is the overall superior athlete.

Lol yes it was kind of lucky for rockhold to be gifted such an opportunity as a lazy half ass spin kick. But it was more Weidman's mistake. It was not a fluke, chris threw a stupid strike and rockhold capitalized. Not sure what would have happened if it wasnt for that kick because both guys were horribly exhausted from body kicking eachother

Lukes ground game is solid, weidman could do nothing when he got him to the floor. When rockhold got on top of weidman we saw how it ended. I hope luke beats him don't want to see a trilogy.

Salty silva fans sure got here quick

Weidman was being luke's ass until he made the horrible choice of doing that ninja shit

Non Ninja shit Chris > Rockhold

I like Chris and I was rooting for him but those excuses gotta stop. He got outclassed; weight, mistakes, "not feeling it", are all BS.

Both fighters obviously weren't at 100%. I'm looking forward to a fight with two healthy fighters. I agree with you, many people thought Weidman is some kind of a BJJ Dark Horse...in reality Luke is way more dangerous on the ground than Weidman.

LOL, what? Chris was LOSING the fight well before the failed kick. The only reason he did it and why it looked so bad was because he was beaten down. I can't believe people think it was JUST that move that lost him the fight. Everything Chris was throwing had nothing on it and he was sooooo slow prior to that kick. He had nothing left either way.
