News Chris Daukaus Cut

How did he ever make it to the top ten at heavyweight weighing 235 with a giant belly. It would be understandable if he was 265 but the guy was tiny for the division and still a fat tub of lard

It would be funny if this thread turns into a thirst trap thread like the legendary Liana Jojua Cut thread(RIP that glorious thread)
Classic example of mods keeping us down. They will post shitty front page articles and other bullshit no one cares about but a legendary thread gets removed bc it's no longer ufc related.

You gotta feel a bit for him and his brother both getting cut so close to each other. But after 3 brutal KOs and then this one at LHW it doesn't look good. As you can see above his defense timing is poor and he doesn't have a good chin. And the other guys at LHW hit almost as hard as the HWs but are quicker with it. His body is very flabby too. He doesn't believe he could make 185 but if he tried maybe he could pull of a Jared Cannonier. Crazy he quit the police force to focus on this full-time and then gets cut. Just brutal, man.

I believe he left on bad terms as well
hopefully he didn't pull one of these

that will happen when you are fighting scrubs and you think you are just gonna continue to KO everyone as you move up the ranks.. He should have known better. His KO loss to roundtree, was a punch that no professional should have been hit with..

He now has the former UFC fighter title that will allow him to continue to make money. He'll be fine. Bellator or PFL.

Shame, but expected. Chris looked like a decidedly above-average Heavyweight talent with his footwork, power, hand speed, combinations, and killer instinct when he first showed up. He was clearly a level above the other bottom-feeders.

But I hopped right off that hype train as soon as I saw the way he struggled against Old Man Shamil who was like 40 years old, coming off a two-year layoff, multiple ailments, etc. Chris looked awful in that fight before he found the finish and I actually said in a thread somewhere after the fact something to the effect of "Good on him for winning, but the moment the UFC matches him up with a legitimate power-puncher with good timing who is capable of countering off their back foot -- like Lewis or Rozenstruik -- he's toast."

And what do you know, the UFC booked him against Lewis right after. I caught so much shit for fading Chris here and elsewhere. People were saying I was "overreacting" to the Shamil performance and that Chris was going to TKO Lewis like Gane had... lol. Not only did the UFC sign Chris's death warrant with Lewis, but they gave him the other guy I mentioned in Rozenstruik and even threw in underrated striker Blaydes with a massive takedown threat for good measure in between. The Curtis one was particularly weird because it involved Daukaus going up in the rankings AND gettting a Main Event after getting KO'd his last time out.

That having been said, I liked to see news of Chris going down to 205. It was pretty clear that he had hit his ceiling at Heavyweight and I still enjoyed the guy and his style as much as I may sound otherwise. Then I saw who his opponent was and facepalmed. There were so many winnable fights for Daukaus at LHW, especially if he had moved there before he had taken as much damage as he did: past-prime Reyes, Devin Clark, maybe even Anthony Smith with the way he's looking these days. But instead they picked one of the division's more technical strikers who is also a knockout artist...

Best of luck to the guy and his brother. See you on Season 36 of TUF, Chris.
