So here's the objective of this thread:
Pick a fighter to be champ of each division and give your reasons. It doesn't have to be a realistic pick, i.e. the person you choose doesn't have to have any actual chance of ever becoming champion. If you want Kid Yamamoto to be BW champ, make it happen!
Here's mine. . .
Heavyweight: JDS -- Likeable guy with a good striking style. Fun to watch, especially when he's KOing people and hammerfisting a rolling Frank Mir in the head. I hope he gets the belt back one day.
Light Heavyweight: Chael Sonnen -- Sonnen as the LHW kingpin? Sign me up! Dude is always a riot, fun to watch regardless of what he's doing.
Middleweight: Machida -- Machida Karate! Of course I'd love for my favorite Karate warrior to capture another belt, showing people that traditional martial arts still have a place in today's fighting landscape.
Welterweight: Stephen Thompson -- Almost picked Lawler, but I gotta go with a member of the Karate Coalition again. Thompson's an exciting dude with a unique style and I'd love to see him shut the haters up.
Lightweight: Melvin Guillard -- Did I just mindfuck y'all there? I've been a Melvin fan for a long time. When he's got his shit together, he's awesome to watch and just fucks guys up. I don't care what anyone says, War Guillard!
Featherweight: Korean Zombie -- How fucking awesome would that be? 'Nuff said.
Bantamweight: Urijah Faber -- An awesome fighter that I've been a fan of since the WEC days when he was guillotining Cruz to hold onto his FW belt. Charismatic and exciting, I really hope he gets another chance to hold the gold before retirement.
Flyweight: Ian McCall -- I almost went with Dodson here for his energetic style and surprising KO power, but at the end of the day I just have to go with McCall, mostly for personality reasons. And superior facial hair.
Women's Bantanweight: Sarah Kaufman -- Been watching Kaufman for a long time and always been a fan. She's a tight boxer with above average wrestling and if she could get a UFC belt that would be awesome.
