Media Chito: "You can be No. 10 and fight for the title. It's whatever the f*ck UFC wants to do."

The UFC has always been WWE 2.0
The fights are real but the UFC is not run like an actual sport with rankings

Great to watch at times but something not to take seriously with real credibility

Just entertainment

Sometimes #11!

Never have I ever thought I’d have respect for a real-estate agent.
UFC went through every single LW ranked above him cause they all declined cause of how close the event was, and were close the event was(no prep time). they were even considering cancelling the fight until Al spammed them to step in with no camp.

He probably didnt believe winning this hail mary was a sure thing, but the fans are grateful.

Notice how he doesn't actually have an example of someone being #10 and fighting for the title. Cause it doesn't happen.

Dan Henderson was #13 when he fought for the title. I know this is where you shift your argument to frequency, but it does happen.

People bitch way too much about who gets title fights instead of just winning big, highly ranked fights. The UFC has ALWAYS given out title shots if you do that. There are zero examples of fighters beating guys like #3 and just not getting a title fight.

Khamzat beat Burns who was #2 and instead of giving him a title shot like everyone expected, they gave him Diaz (inevitably Holland) and gave the title fight to 'boring' Leon.

Chito is exaggerating, but welcome to the reality of prize fighting.

Why would UFC promote #1 vs #2 when #1 vs. #6 is going to make more money? When more people are willing to pay for that fight?

Because according to this logic, Conor should be in a title fight every single fight, right?

You have to pretend there is some credibility to the rankings or they don't actually help sell the fight. And when the UFC continually makes illogical bookings according to the rankings, it diminishes the meaning of them to the consumer.

It's a business not a meritocracy sport. Rankings are like the BMF belt; just talking points to gain interest of plebs.

Chito always has a chip on his shoulder, he is never content or satisfied with anything

In the fight game thats probably a good quality. Makes you game and hungry.....albeit annoying as hell too.

The Diaz fight was supposed to help out Khamzat. Khamzat needed 5 round experience and he looked a bit shaky against in Burns in a 3 round fight. It also would have improved his image before his title shot. I guess the whole thing imploded with his failed weight cut.

Khamzat beat Burns 2-3 months before the Leon and Usman fight happened. Usman needed an opponent and Khamzat wouldn't have been ready by then.

I understand the logic, but remember - the person I was responding to said directly "There are zero examples of fighters beating guys like #3 and just not getting a title fight.".

We can do the same thing with Sean O'Malley beating Petr Yan (#1) and getting passed up for Cejudo/Aljo.

Again, we can argue the situation, but my point is simply that it happens, so the context is irrelevant.

Khamzat beat Burns April 9th, 2022. Leon vs Usman II was Aug 20, 2022. Thats over 4 months later and Khamzat (the guy who fights on a week's notice) literally fought Diaz(Holland) 3 weeks later.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Khamzat wouldn't have been ready".

I knew I wasnt the only one that is tired of the ufc doing whatever the fuck they wanna do in respect to title shots and rankings. Glad that more fighters are speaking out on this shit. Careers get sidetracked and ruined over this type of bushleague pseudosport shit. If the ufc continues fucking with the market value of fighters we will see even more backlash than we do now and thats a lot already.

It's sports entertainment, and the UFC exists to make a profit. Someday people are going to realize this, I hope.

Then there won't be so much confusion as to why the UFC might decide to make fights based on how much potential revenue they'll generate, and not strictly based on rankings.
I wish we all could stop enabling and giving the ufc a free pass for their conduct. Yes they exist as a company in order to make a profit but at what expense? Mma is a sport and should be run that way, where else does this type of thing happen? I´d be more tolerant if the ufc paid fighters a bigger share of that profit, but they dont ... instead they railroad fighters careers sometimes and that in turn lowers their perceived market value. Why suppory tyranny? this is sort of the theme in the world right now, not enough people stand up to corruption so we will soon have a One/new world order dictatorship by the elite.

The ufc needs to start treating mma with the proper respect it deserves as a sport. This is just my humble opinion of course but Im sure many think the same and the fighters as well are fed up and want a meritocracy instead.

so dont bother with rankings. dont bother with adjusting them. if they dont matter, why even have them? can't have your cake and eat it too. either theyre a legit sport or theyre sports entertainment. right now, id say the UFC is more sports entertainment.
exactly. the ufc use the ranking to steer career paths, derail them as well...they manipulate and micromanage everything in order to earn more profit which they dont even share fairly with the fighters anyway so they are getting double screw, triple if you add in the sponsorship cockblock and quadruple if you consider the half ass health insurance and post career care.

I never said they needed to get an immediate title shot after beating a top ranked fighter. Not being next =/= not having earned a title shot from the UFC's views.

My point was there really aren't examples of the UFC not giving title shots to guys who have secured top ranked wins. It's basically fiction by Sherdoggers. They'll complain about guys like Islam not getting title shots despite being on long win streaks, and then you look at the win streak and there's nobody in the top 5 in it (and then he still got one anyways without one top win).

The UFC does reward their fighters who win big fights. The guys being "held back" from title shots haven't actually beaten anybody to warrant it. That's their overall policy and has always been their policy across decades.
