Chito Vera was Exposed?

Not really, he's been a guy that has been outfought in a lot of his fights, it's just that sometimes he's landed a good shot or two and gotten a finish (Edgar, Cruz, the O'Malley injury). He was getting beaten by late 30's Edgar and Cruz (who also has that injury history), but had a few good power shots over three rounds (well really just the second and third rounds) prior to the head kick finish vs. Cruz (that Cruz ducked right into be overly doing one of his characteristic head dips) and landed that front kick against Frankie late in the fight. Against fighters with less wear and damage, who have their prime reflexes, chin, and wits he isn't going to be doing much as a power shot is less likely to land and when it does it will mean less. He's the Jorge Masvidal of bantamweight and just like Masvidal was completely outclassed against Wonderboy, Vera was against Sandhagen.

Yes, he was exposed. Balls and dick were all out for everyone to see.

What’s the right word to apply here?
Exposed? Dominated? Outclassed? All the above?

I feel like I was well aware of Chito’s shortcomings especially as a big fan of his.
Full credit to Cory Sandhagen for pressuring Chito and exposing all those weakness.
First time I’ve seen all those problems in Chito’s game being showcased in harmony in one fight.
I thought a 5 round fight would work in favour of Chito’s “slow start” style but it’s clear he’s no tactician.
Am I being too hard on him? Can he/will he fix the holes in his game?

I think Chito will improve from this vs those type of fighters Cory is....but will try to maintain his old style.
His slow style works well if he can prevent being taken down.
Thats what I think his biggest problem is.
He just showed vs stop tier grapplers, like sterling, who now have a perfect checklist game plan against him now.
Not that they didn't know before, but, they can piggy back off Cory's gameplan and do it better in areas they are stronger.
Funny, how Vera started taking risk at the end of the 5th round...but, his sense of urgency vs what round he was, was not there...
I think Vera needs to start turning it up more...He can go slow like he does..but.maybe last 30 seconds of each fight turn it up..
I still think he has what it takes ...I just think he needs to change it up. Do his same method but start pouring it on more...Cory was really good at evading him though...

Personally, I think he needs to train out of a better gym.
I really think he can be champ but needs to switch camps.
He has allot more to offer.

Bisping...isnt saying it here but same reaction...Vera could have done much better but look like he was dumb imo...he needs to go switch camps imo. Vera could have had a much much better gameplan...for SURE ..but it was not there.

Dude go to 7:37 of the video on what the corner man was saying to Vera...are you here....I mean is that a refection of the camp he is in...or Vera ? ...I go with he needs a new camp...what camp do you guys like him at? I say AKA or Jackson....

Sandhagen was too much of a leap in competition. Chito was beating up older fighters over the age of 35. He fought a few guys like that in a row. That was pretty much his win streak. The more appropriate matchup was probably between Kung Fu Monkey and him.

He was shut down but cmon....it wasn't a beating....

To be fair it seems impossible to give a beating to a guy like Chito. Guy's skin is made out of steel, he rarely looks hurt ever even when he's getting hit a lot.

Chito was never that good. Beating up a pair of 40 year olds in Edgar and Cruz doesn't mean much to me. He barely scraped by Font, it's not just about winning but how you win and Chito looked bad and flawed in most of his wins recently too. Beating Davey Grant doesn't say much either and Grant has a win over him too. Chitos pace has always been bad, he got pressured and edged out by Lineker too. Chitos guard is underwhelming and he's very easy to take down and keep down as we've seen in the past.

Chito is good at making big things happen but his IQ is low and he can't really change gears. There's probably 20 BWs in the world I'd favor to beat Chito. He got the push by the UFC and very favorable match making, he's good but super exploitable.
I think you should watch the Font fight again...

Chitos entire success is built on being tough and luck. He beat two old ass legends but was losing to both of them beforehand. He lost to old Aldo. He had a once in a blue moon weird injury happen against O’Malley, and was even getting pieced up by Font in every round…. I never bought Chito as an elite BW and tonight showed what it was like for him to fight an in prime elite BW.

Font outlanded Chito by 120 strikes. Font couldn't handle Chitos power but he was also 35 and coming off a bad loss vs Aldo who also rocked and hurt him several times.

Font outclassed chito until his weak chin failed him in every round.

His orbital was broke by Aldo a few months before that. Font didn't plan to fight that soon. Actually he was on vacation in the Bahamas 7 weeks before the fight and ufc called him saying they needed a main event. He definitely shouldn't have accepted it as he wasn't fully recovered from the aldo fight, and he was out of shape and couldn't even make weight. fighters do dumb things I guess when the ufc asks.

Thats really rough, wow. Font never got the credit he deserved.

Remember that the consequence of Chito Vera losing means that we might be potentially seeing a guy who bragged about sharing his wife with other men as a champion.

Chito Vera even beat him once.

Apparently dana still gave him a nice bonus afterwards at least. I'm hoping font can turn back the young guns in yanez, get a couple more pay checks, then slide into the coaching role.

Um....
He's a modern day Tank Abbott?
Hey, he's just like Marc Coleman.
Oh, hello new one missing pec guy.
If you watched Pedro back in the day, he like Vera could let a fight get away from him, by being overly tentative and turning a fight into a staring contest, while having the ability to turn a fight with a single shot. Both him and Vera from a fan standpoint where extremely frustrating to watch as a fan.

Font vs Yanez is on paper a bit of a sacrifice.

people gave chito too much credit on his injury/fluke win on o'malley.... probably because everyone hates o'malley here.

gangster got audited tonight by a white boy with a psychology degree.

aside from the illegal upkicks and 12-6 elbows.... what shocked me is his complacency. he never stepped on the gas and went for it. then raised his hand like he thought he won. like dude you clearly lost the first 2, and the last 3 could go either way. his face was fine compared to corey's.... so im not sure why he was so afraid of getting in the pocket.

Chito beat the shit out of Font brother.

I am thankful we no longer have to try and perform mental gymnastics to accept Marlon Vera as a top contender. He's a mid tier brawler who sometimes has fun fights. How the FUCK any judge gave him that fight is mind blowing. Sandhagen, an actual top bantamweight, absolutely tooled him.
