It's not like Marlon can't speak English and has spent no time in North America. He trains in the US and hangs out with Americans. He knows how to use social media. He would have heard the backlash from him calling Song Ya Dong a Chinaman and yet he did not apologize or clarify. If it was just a misunderstanding, wouldn't you clarify, instead of using a stereotype referring to the same group of people, knowing there was backlash the first time?

Not sure exactly how overt you need it to be but if it walks like a duck...

Because there is a difference between being ignorant and being a racist. And that's something a melting pot country like America needs to realize. I mean all your stuff is conjecture.
"He trains with Americans". So what? Americans are ignorant as fuk, but doesn't necessarily mean they're all racist. I've met good folks who said some racist shit out of ignorance, doesn't mean they were racist. They became less ignorant because they had a dialogue with me. But if ignorant people hang out with other ignorant people, that's a recipe for disaster.

"He would have heard backlash from calling Song Ya Dong Chinaman" so did he or didn't he? Because this thread was the first time I saw that "chinamen" post. If no one got on his case about it, then there is no learning happening.

And sure, if the term "made in China" is enough to upset you, then fine. To me, that saying has no tie to being racist remark. It's the same as saying "made in India" or "made in Mexico".

I also want you to know, it's hard because this is all text over an internet forum but I'm actually not feeling upset or angry with our dialogue. I've actually enjoyed having a civil dialogue with someone on sherdog haha.
And if you want to leave this topic alone, don't reply because I'll go all night on this haha. And look, ask me personally, wouldn't be surprised if Vera was racist towards Asians. I'm Asian, we're the butt of all jokes. We're the race that gets shat on by all ALL THE RACES, and for some reason it is funny and okay. However, I am also against cancel culture, the extreme judging and shitting on people without conclusive evidence.
If it turns out that Vera is truly racist and not just ignorant against Asian people, fuck him and everything he stands for, and I hope he gets KTFO with a broken jaw. But if he's just ignorant, well at least I didn't hope on a cancel train.

its not his first time

I can't stand O'Malley he is 26 and already have been caught for steroids + had an hip replacement, its only downhill from here.
But in his defence this was 6 years ago in a ammy fight in the 5th round.
He get the W but its amatuer who gives a fuck, everyone there saw who the real winner was.

"O'malley is a cry baby. He's a little bitch! He's a bitch once, you're gonna be a bitch forever! I don't care about the guy! He can talk whatever he want."

"Let's be real. There's not big money in the rematch because first thing, he's not Conor McGregor and Nate, that's money"

Whoever fights Conor McGregor, it's money! O'Malley is just like a lower version of Conor McGregor. He's like the China version of him -- he's made in China. He's fake!"

Thats a pretty apt description, actually. He's a poor man's conor. Not even really Irish lmao.

I think when it is all said and done OMalley will turn out to be a better fighter than Chito. Chito win was quite flukey imo. We'll see hiw good he really is against Aldo.

How is kicking somebody legs and injuring him flukey?

Everything he said checks out. Sean will go down as an unjustified hype show. Will prob be a a waiter at some shitty hipster restaurant in LA within 10 years. Easily the softest fighter on the roster.

Hey, it's great that you want to give him the benefit of the doubt but let's not do any mental gymnastics to avoid the obvious.

First of all, I stated that he trains with Americans in the US to show that he isn't fresh off the boat from South America and has no idea what is going on. His English is fine and he knows what he is saying.

Also, yes he would have heard the backlash from his statement because it was picked up by MMA media. He's not so famous that he would tune out news about himself - especially considering he retweets mma media all the time. There's also some pushback on his own twitter feed, along with a landslide of less than ambiguous racism from his Spanish followers. There's no language barrier there. They are speaking in Spanish and they are pretty transparent about how they feel. Chito neither shuts down the racist rhetoric nor does he correct the people who are pushing back on what he said – even those that are pushing back in Spanish.

You act like Chito Vera is some sort of naive immigrant who just got to the US and is just confused by English. He's not.

This has nothing to do with cancel culture. I'm not trying to "cancel" Chito at all. If he is racist, that's his prerogative but the street goes both ways.

Ah I see. I didn't know there was a public backlash to his "chinamen" tweet and that it got picked up by the MMA media. That does change the narrative. I've been sayin that I need more info and that's also why I kept asking you questions.

My whole before point was that I wasn't ready to call him racist based on one single tweet because I didn't know his history and he may just have been ignorant.
I just had conversation with another guy and the thing I also didn't know was the strong racism against Asians in Latin American countries. Apparently Asians get dogged openly in those countries. Shit, that does change my view on that tweet a lot. You're right man, I was lookin at this through a view that he was just a non-Asian American. But he is Ecuadorian. Goddamnit, I was becoming a fan of this guy too. Looks like he's going the Mike Perry route for me. I ain't ever let that shit they said about Hyun Gyu Lim go.

Edit: Forgot to mention, didn't know that he wasn't shutting down the shit his fans were saying to Song too. *sigh* man, now I'm bummed out. Hope this guy gets KO'd

Hey, I commend you for giving people the benefit of the doubt and assuming that they aren't racist to start with. Most people aren't assholes but some people are. Can't say I'm going to like someone who doesn't like me for the colour of my skin.

Same man, can’t support a guy who doesn’t like how we look like. Haha yeah, I definitely was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt (I learned to because I’m an elementary school teacher believe it or not). Thanks for this dialogue brother. Also for it being a civil dialogue too haha.

Walmart Conor would of made more sense, considering he is American not Chinese. An unpopular opinion but I really think O'Malley would beat Chito in a rematch but that doesn't discredit Chito's win. O'Malley may be more skilled but he is made of glass and Chito exposed that.
