Traditional Chinese martial arts.

Accused of making a mockery of Chinese culture, the MMA fighter (Xu Xiaodong) has been banned on Chinese social media. He has instead amassed huge followings on Twitter and YouTube, which are inaccessible in China without the use of a virtual private network, or VPN, service.

Last year, he was ordered to apologize and pay nearly $40,000 in damages after calling tai chi grandmaster Chen Xiaowang a fraud

His family has been targeted by harassment, he's been doxxed multiple times by opponents, publicly assaulted and is threatened on a daily basis. By his own admission he's not even that good, and against traditional martial arts.

Here he is beating a Tai Chi Master in 10 seconds. (Time stamped)

The Tai Chi master also claimed that he was “blinded by the sun” and literally blamed the floor.
“The moment I stepped into the cage I realized the ground was so soft. I have been practicing for a year on hard surfaces, soft surfaces inhibit tai chi,”

Here is anathore video of him fighting a "Kung Fu Master" and literally lets the guy punch him in the face until he gasses out and then beats his ass :D

From his wiki: "Xu was sued in 2019 for calling tai chi "grandmaster" Chen Xiaowang a fraud, and the Chinese court ordered him to pay Chen approximately US$60,000 in damages and to apologize for seven consecutive days on social media. "

Why is this in the UFC section??

I didn't really know where else to put it. It could possibly go into the World Wide MMA Discussion, Mayberry, or even the War Room. I just figured I would put it in the Heavy's because it's a human interest stories that involves martial arts that most fight fans would take to.

it fits. the early UFC was basically about seeing what actually works in a real 'fight' (and also to promote the Gracies...). these whippersnappers forget the UFC's roots

He’s lucky he hasn’t been disappeared yet. Those rat fucks don’t usually tolerate speech or expression. Ask LeBron.

why is china still trying to hold onto their obvious bullshit martial arts which everyone knows is completely fake? at this point its just a joke and scam. just open up mma gyms like everybody else and stop being ridiculous

First of all, there's zero mention of him being banned in social media in the article

Edit: never mind its far down in the article.

And second, the article says that the Chinese government tell Tai chi master to stop calling themselves "master". So I see a big contradiction here.

Thanks TS. Best forum for it IMO. Not everything in this forum should be about an upcoming UFC fight.

Anyway, yeah, I've followed this recently. Props to him for pushing back against bullshido there... people forget it was the same thing in this country 30 years ago. Such a shame that a government that models itself as adhering to the scientific method (in social sciences) simultaneously shits all over the scientific method that this guy is using (showing what works vs what doesn't).
