Chimaev would wrestle**** Silva

kind of silly to compare a guy who just won the belt to a guy with one of the longest reigning championships in ufc history.

silva would defend his belt like 3x a year and never missed weight or pulled out with the flu.

chimaev might beat a prime silva, sure (although without the knowledge of modern weight cutting and nutrition he would likely be a LHW)
but that doesn't mean he would accomplish the same things like 10 title defenses.

Chimaev being able to beat Anderson Silva is a theory. Silva having more title defenses is a fact.

Anderson had the best take down defenc3 in middle weight history at that time. Maybe he still holds that title i dunno.

I mean, probably

Then again, a shot-to-all-hell Silva stepped in against DC and landed a body shot that would've crippled most people. In all likelihood Khamzat grinds him out for 25 minutes. But if anyone is capable of pulling a rabbit out of his hat for a sudden stoppage, it was Andy

this the same khamzat that wanted nothing to do with burns on the ground? but he would definitely beat anderson?
beat him, maybe. Do any damage or hurt him? Zero chance. DDP esque style lay in half guard for 25 minutes at best.

Wait so if Anderson’s not the MW GOAT… then who is?

Also, since TS likes hypotheticals, well Anderson would probably drive a knee so hard up Khamzats face that he’d get his cleft palate back.

Yet Silva is considered MW goat

Explain that to me

No "muh muh he got more title defenses" cope please
You keep using the word goat.
But I dont think you realize know what it means…

Lets make an extreme hypothetical example.

Some imaginary fighter. Gets into the UFC after 5 sub wins and 5 ko wins each in less than 30 seconds in regional unknown circuits. Fights twice in the UFC somehow against the 10th, 9th, and 8th rank fighters. Beats one by 5 second ko, the second by 5 second sub and the third gave up after the first round.

Now lets wash all this down, all this record happened across 30 years and he retired without doing anything else.

I can totally understand any uppity little white belt posting threads how this fighter would destroy Chimaev in their heads.

But in reality, he barely fought compared to the accomplished proven champion Khamzat both in quality and quantity.

Now switch the imaginary fighter with Khamzat and the Khamzat with Silva the GOAT.

Different time periods. Woudln't you agree, that many many many fighters of today would pose a threat to Royce Gracie, if they had been teleported back in time to the early 90's. But these fighters are using the path, that was partially built by Royce Gracie. His Legendary status still stands, but fighters of today are a bit more advanced and more versatile.

chimaev would win, lets be real. anderson got taken down by chael at will. chimaev is leagues above anyone in terms of wrestling that anderson has ever fought.

Compare Sonnen shots to Chimaev's lol

Sonnen even took Silva down with a disgusting shot in the second fight and controlled him the whole round

Chimaev got better top control and better takedowns than Sonnen

Don't you remember Sonnen in that fight lol? Trying an amateur shot then a lazy backfist and getting finished
You can cherry pick and try to find a sloppy takedown by Sonnen, but overall he had some of the best double-legs ever at 185.

That said, Khamzat would be a very tough stylistic match-up for Silva. But you don't become the GOAT by being a tough style match up for the GOAT. We can maybe talk about Khamzat being in the GOAT conversation after 6 or 7 title defenses, even though Silva had a lot more than that.

Khamzat has an opportunity to cement his legacy in the sport and surpass Anderson, but that means fighting regularly and he doesn't seem capable.
He doesn't even want to fight Imanov cause "both Muslims and from a similar region" or something. Silva fought plenty of other Brazilians. At the rate Khamzat fights, there's no way he can match any of the GOATs in terms of title defenses.

Hypothetical matchups, how do they work? Trevor Berbick is not considered greater than Ali. Because logic.

Takase steamrolled Silva, so it's likely Khamzat does so too. This doesn't mean Silva still isn't the greatest MW we've seen from a career perspective.

Yep, but the difference is Royce ran off from the UFC after 2 years when the competition improved and a few fighters started being able to counter his BJJ and give him tough fights. Anderson was champ for 7 years and defended his belt more than 10 times (plus a few wins at LHW).

Perhaps, but we need to stop giving this once a year fighter props for hypothetical wins in fights he'll never fight.
