But in the US we had 45+ million file for unemployment, and thousands of business shut down for good (but the walmarts, targets, krogers of the world are allowed to stay open), and then the trillion of dollars that was spent to prop up everything for some bullshit forced shutdowns.

Frankly if everyone wore the mask for 2 weeks, 2 months, whatever, that still wouldn't do shit and the virus would still running amuck. Also a lot of hype is being made on the evolved strains of covid but that is even better as they are even usually less deadly. Apparently most people don't science, but it isn't good for a parasite to kill its host. It is best for the parasite to keep the host alive so they and their reproductions can feast indefinitely.

Death rate is directly proportional to how overwhelmed ICUs are, when hospitals run out of beds people are left to die at home. Death rate is much lower when you have capacity to cope with it, if you let it just run rampant you end up like Italy earlier this year. Covid is far more transmissible than flu, hence the need for putting brakes on the spread via masks and lockdowns.



Yes flu fucks people up, based on less than one year of stats Covid looks to be 10x deadlier, and unlike flu its also leaving a trail of long term sick from damaged vascular systems, scarred lungs, neurological effects, etc on people who have had it. You are right that 80% of people get though it without any major issues, some don't know they have it at all, but I would not want to test my chances (or anyone I come into contact with whist carrying it).

Masks have never been said to be 100% effective, but they have been proven many times now to slow the spread, which is ultimately the main reason to wear one. As previously mentioned the idea is to slow the spread enough so that ICU wards have capacity to keep the death rates down, until we have enough people vaccinated to end the pandemic.


Lockdowns are only bullshit if they are poorly implemented, they have been successfully pulled off in Australia, NZ, China, but required near draconian enforcement. If people flout lockdown rules, which unfortunately is now almost inevitable, they only slow the transmission and prolong the need for lockdowns. If everyone bit the bullet and locked down for 3 - 4 weeks in the spring this thing would be over.
Economic impacts of this are going to be very severe, no doubt, but letting a virus rampage freely would paralyze the health system and still bring immense economic costs.

Some rare versions of the Corona Virus like SARS, MERS or COVID 19 are more serious than most Flus but the Flu kills hundreds of thousands or millions every year and the worst Flus like the Spanish Flu make COVID seem like a minor illness.

The US has already shown to have skewed the numbers by a shit ton and the current numbers are less than 1%. Then throw in the fact that Cali and NY had already found thousands and thousands of people with the antigen (back like april or around that time) and then Penn St saying that the covid is way more contagious than what was thought, up to 84x more contagious. When considering this it further pushes the mortality rate even way lower than the 1%. I'm sure these same things have occurred all over the world as well. Again for most of the people it is the flu at worst. Nothing about covid is worth shutting down all the economies to hide in your moms basement for two weeks.

You've got countries who went full mask and lockdown and they still getting rising cases. But the thing, who gives a fuck if the cases go up while the death rate continually gets lower. A) the seasonal flu is not a thing with a singular cause. In fact about 25% of "flu" is caused by coronavirus. So saying "the flu is more deadly than coronavirus" makes no sense.

B) no it's not. I mean, basic counting proves that. The flu kills 250,000 - 500,000 world wide in a given year. Covid has already killed 1.8 million despite unprecedented worldwide steps to try and contain it. If we wore masks, shut down stores, stayed 6ft apart etc etc "the flu" would hardly even exist let alone kill people. Covid laughed at that shit and killed 2 million people anyway.

C) the Spanish flu was not a typical flu. It was an extremely rare form of H1N1. It also occured 100+ years ago. Release Covid during WWI and see what happens.
