The other post here asking if yelling motivates you, made me think about Gordon Ramsay.
What do you all think of him? Everyone says it's entertainment, and he's a nice guy in real life. But if Gordon Ramsay really is like that, I have the feeling people would be defending him anyway. I know several who think that is how he is in real life and think he's the greatest thing ever.

I'll tell you this, because how witty he is, he's very entertaining to watch. Definitely great for TV. Although, I think he tames it when there is no cameras around.

Yea, If you're witty and charismatic, people will praise you even if you're in the wrong.

Do you know who Marco Pierre-White is? He was the one who yelled at Ramsay and made him cry during his training. It's because of him we have the Gordon we have today. One of my favourite meals ever was at his L'Escargot before it lost its star.

Hot damn he was fine. I had a filthy dream about him while I was reading his book.

Im more of a Giada man. I think he’s overrated the people i know that like him cant cook.
Giada doesn't even taste her own food when she cooks. She has a stunt double or she spits it out after the take.
I like her because Italy and loved the tour with Flay. But her scaredy cat antics with garlic do my nut in.

I watch him all the time on Kitchen Nightmares and Hells Kitchen. I also met him once at work. He just seemed like a nice normal guy.

In fact all of her shows IN Italy I really like.

That's awesome! What line of work did you get to meet him?

Only been to two of his restaurants. Claridges was an experience but the food at a far less stuffy place I enjoyed more. His pub The Narrow is always top notch.

I work maintenance in a big hotel in Vegas. Back in 2009 after the big financial crisis a lot of the smaller conventions started doing their meetings in our guest rooms instead of renting ballrooms to save money. As a result the lines to our elevators were ridiculously long. I was walking in our suite floors and the couple in front of me was talking about how ridiculous the elevator lines were. I offered to take them down the service elevators and when they turned around it was him and his wife. (I kind of knew it). So I took then down the service elevators and through the boh area to the casino while making small talk the whole time. He was very talkative.

One of the coolest celeb encounters I've had while working.

Have you seen Boiling Point, the Gordon Ramsay documentary from 1999?

This was when he was a star chef in London and notorious in the food world, but not yet an international TV personality.

Spoiler: He is not a nice guy. He is an utterly driven boss and brutal with anyone he considers underperforming. His goal is to achieve Michelin stars and woe to those who he considers to be keeping him from that goal.

The person you see on Hell's Kitchen is an amped-up caricature, but it is based on how Gordon really worked.

All that said: Boiling Point was more than 20 years ago, and Gordon has changed A LOT. Having a family and massive global success will do that to a man.

Oh, I’m not eating any of that pretentious foo foo Hollywood crap she makes. I enjoy her large nose and breasts.
I do love garlic to a fault as well though.
Food wise i would go with Lidia Bastianich or whatever her name is. Her restaurant is fantastic. They have a three menu pasta course (ravioli, red sauce pasta dish, olive oil pasta dish) They just keep bring out more until you wave them off, it’s insane and all the pasta is homemade. Absolute Heaven.

I mean, chefs are supposed to have sensitive palates. But his appearance on Hot Ones is clearly a performance. He even brought props like the donuts and the pepto bismal and the lime juice.

There's a reason that is easily the most popular episode of Hot Ones (110 million views). Gordon Ramsay knows television and how to play to an audience.
