You know what, I see you point of view now. The cheerleader seems like a stuck up bitch who knows she is out of his league. She probably thought to herself

"You know what, I'm going to do a good deed today. I know, I'll ask that slow kid out to the prom. He ought to be thrilled that someone of my stature is taking the time to ask him out to the prom"

I don't see how this is a nice thing to do... his soul is going to be crushed when he tries to kiss her and she rebuffs him and makes it clear that they only went as friends... His reaction seemed to imply that he believed it was more than that.

I don't know man. The whole thing comes off like she is doing him some sort of favor. Like she is better than him or something. She wouldn't have made such a big presentation (camera's, audience etc) out of it if she was asking the football jock. It would have been business as usual. No big deal.

I dont think this is a sham. Kids film every single thing now days. To those of us that are cynical are you over 30 and didnt have a camera on you at all times? I am and publicity stunt was my first thing that came to my mind. Then I thought about what kids are like now and I changed my mind
