HIV free does not mean much. A lot of chronic viral infections can be suppressed by medication, leaving the carrier without any detectable trace or symptoms. That doesn't mean they are cured. The virus can lay dormant in various cells within the body for years and reactivate. Currently there is no effective way to completely eradicate HIV, and reports claiming to have done so are isolated cases not applicable to the general patient population.


Of course you can, but the risk of being infected by HIV through vaginal sex is vastly smaller than anal sex. I don't know if Sheen injects drugs or likes to poke bum holes, but those two are the most statistically likely to give you HIV.

Even unprotected anal sex is pretty low risk.

About 1% I believe....and that's the recipient. The giver is lower still.

I know a guy with HIV and he's had it for 15 + years. If you saw him, you wouldn't suspect he was any different than you and I. He's not even slightly rich. Middle class. I think the medications are THAT good now, and you don't have to be filthy rich for access.

Sheen will definitely live a long time...But that's only if he stops his hardcore partying. Because even if you don't have HIV, that shit takes a toll.

It's extremely difficult to transmit HIV through oral sex, although the possibility exists. Even unprotected vaginal sex (not a good idea by any stretch), isn't a death sentence as many believes. The most common forms of HIV transmissions are unprotected anal sex and needle sharing. With current treatment options and the amount of money Sheen has, he can live for years if not decades (see Magic Johnson).

There is even a risk from kissing. There was supposedly one case when two guys with bad gingervitis kissed and the virus was spread. There is also supposedly a guy (some former American child star) who caught it from oral sex.

I think for the most part its extremely rare from vaginal sex for the male. But I think several things need to be considered.

What stage is the HIV at in the infected person? (just caught it, in natural remission, AIDS)

What substrain has been caught? (like other viruses there are different strains and some are probably more aggressive and are more likely to be shred)

And the individual (some people will naturally shed the virus more aggressively).

I know some people theorize that dentist who spread HIV to his patients probably had a fairly aggressive form of the disease (given that they all died within 10 years) and it was easier to spread. This strain would be less successful as it kills its victims quicker than the 'nicer' versions.

Most of this is guesswork based on what I know about other viruses. If anyone can correct me please do.

It's been years since I have had un-protected sex. The only thing that I have always worried about is some of the small openings and/or cuts on my fingers.

I would think that some of the danger with vaginal sex for a guy would be some menstrual blood. I would think that that would increase the likelihood of catching the virius.
