Charles 'Do Bronx' faces Jim Miller this Saturday (15) on the card of UFC on Fox 31, in what will be the first rematch of his career. The expectation and motivation for the confrontation have awakened a new competitive side in the athlete, who is excited and already looks at new challenges against old acquaintances.
In an interview with Ag. Fight, the athlete assured that he intends to measure against other athletes who, like the American, have beaten him in the past - Jim Miller was the first athlete to beat Charles in MMA in 2010. And with this in mind, Charles has a renowned range of possibilities.
"I think so, every rematch motivates more. I want to fight not only with Jim Miller but with everyone who has beaten me. I just fought with a big name. [...] Cerrone, [Pettis] 'Showtime', Ricardo Lamas, and why not Max Holloway? Does not it look like he's coming back for the light? Why can not I welcome him? "He recounted, excitedly, recalling the fight against champion in 2015.
Holloway, who competed as lightweight until 2011, when he entered the UFC, made a successful run in the featherweight division. In case he climbs to the lightweight to meet the wishes of Dana White, president of the show, the Hawaiian will now enter the radar of the Brazilian, who, it seems, should remain in the division once and for all.
"My focus is to fight with Jim Miller. After this fight I will sit down with my team and my family and decide what is best for me and my career, "he said, without the repeated speech throughout the 2018 season in which he repeatedly asked to return to penalties.
But as he knows, the future of a UFC fighter depends on results, and the more wins, the more bargaining power he has with the organization. Therefore, all care is little for this Saturday's duel against the experienced rival.
"[In the first fight] I was just a boy. I grew, matured and improved a lot, especially in my striking, "he finished.
