Why not change the time format? Where the UFC is based on 5 minute rounds, why doesn't WSOF go with a short first round, say 3 minutes, followed by a 15 minute round? The 3 minute round would be either a knock out round, or a round to get a read on each other. All the cardio guys would show up, such as the Diaz brothers, Condit, etc. The less strong, more fit fighters would love to see that. Ask them

Why not a 7,5 minutes rounds then fifteen 30 secounds rounds ?

Anyway your idea is not compatible with the unified rules since it can't be scored round by round. Also the fighter will go where they are paid the most, they won't accept a lower paycheck just for more favorable rules.

I think the current time format is ok, maybe they can change the judgement's criteria (mixed with pride rules)

For the most part the rule set is dictated by the athletic commissions. Something like that would fly in Japan or Russia, but not North America.

I have always wanted 5, 4 minute rounds for non-title fights (20 minutes), and title fights to be 7, 4 minute rounds (28 minutes).

Fighters get more time to finish the fight.

When I become ruler of the universe, I'm changing the unified rules to this.

You COULD do that, as long as total fight time isn't longer than 25 minutes.

But it's a dumb idea.

I think the ACs forbid that fighters fight no more than 15 minutes (25 minutes for tile fights) in one night. How long each rounds are is up to the organizations at least I'm pretty sure about it so one 3 minute round and one 12 minute round should theoretically be possible.
But yeah it makes no sense.

Not just title fights, also non-title main events.

Can't change existing rules if the fight is sanctioned by an athletic commission.

You can add rules from what i gather (with Strikeforce banning elbows on the ground.)

I think making rounds 6 minutes instead of 5 would be a good decision. You see it all the time where one fighter is winning on the feet, then the other gets a takedown halfway through the round and gets a chance to use their superior grappling, but then the round is over in 2 minutes and they didnt have a chance to show their superior grappling skills.

Unified rules do not let rounds exceed 5 minutes. I've seen MMA fights that have 3 minute rounds and it's terrible.

That's pretty much it.

Same went for the orgs with standup clocks for the ground.
