Change one result in the UFC

As a huge Ken Shamrock fan, I have lots of fantasy changes. I can leave UFC 1 to Royce and the rise of BJJ, but I would've loved it if at UFC 5 instead of trying to prove the point that Royce couldn't submit him without the element of surprise he just beat the fuck out of Royce like he did Christophe Leininger and Brian Johnston. Just get on top of Royce and pummel him. I also wish he would've said "Fuck it" to all the political posturing BS rules at UFC 9 and just went full steam at Severn. And, of course, I wish he didn't have a blown out ACL against Tito at UFC 40 and could've actually had a fighting chance.

Also as a huge Cro Cop fan, him not losing to Nogueira, Randleman, or Fedor would've been awesome in PRIDE, and obviously I wish the head kick KO would've been the other way around against Gonzaga in the UFC.

Lastly, for how much I loved the loser and hated the winner, I so wish Sean Sherk didn't let the fans' complaints about his "boring" wrestling attack get in his head and instead would've just gone full wrestling ahead at BJ in their fight. Instead of standing in front of the superior striker, he should've stuck to BJ the way GSP did in their rematch, shut down his striking by closing the distance and burn away his energy by making him ward off his TDs and clinch work. I would've loved to have seen The Muscle Shark devour The Prodigy instead of just play human punching bag.

Ken Shamrock beating Tito Ortiz in their first match by heelhook

You do realize we would have had Ken vs Chuck next for the title ?

Randy Couture finishes Brock by GnP in round 5.

Randy, despite getting caught by Brock's meat fist, was doing a dandy job of owning that fight.

What would have happened to the HW landscape? I have no idea.

Khabib is defeated by Conor so we don't have to see a bunch of casuals putting Khabib in the GOAT discussion solely based on being undefeated.

Cerrone beats RDA. I know he loses it next defense, but I needed it to happen.
This needed to happen so people would stop making false claims about Cerrone like "Jorneyman, Gatekeeper" etc.. he was a legit top contender of the same caliber or better than a lot of guys that have won the belt. Not a world beater, but he for sure could have been a champ. Overall I'd say he was better than Pettis and Eddie.

Aldo to wreck Mcrapist and Diaz beats Condit. Reem thrashes Big Foot and Browne

Good thread, but op has Ken Shamrock as a wrestler????????

Jones is actually held accountable for pissing hot all of those times, is banned for life and forgotten. A few years later ends up doing too much cocaine with a street hoe in a seedy motel that smells like piss and mothballs, murders her when he realizes she doesn't have a dick, goes on an OJ Simpson type chase and is gunned down in front of his dealer's house, where he was heading
Agreed.

I'd change the 2019 NSAC hearing that cleared him due to the bogus pulsing science that was rejected by WADA & the Olympics.

Give him a lifetime ban & expunge his record in 2019, and be done with it.

GSP beats Serra the first fight.

Once GSP recaptured the belt, he went on a run of defenses that’s never been tied or exceeded at WW. Imagine if he’d won the first Serra fight as expected though—he could’ve had like 13 defenses of the belt, which would be insane and probably untouchable.

I'm not sure GSP goes on an epic run if he beats Serra the first time. If you've read his book, GSP notes that he had a bunch of negative & unproductive things going on in his life which he didn't really know about until his loss. That loss to Serra made him re-evaluate his life and seriously focus & dedicate himself to becoming a great MMA champion. IMO GSP tops out at around the Usman/Hughes level without his loss, still a hell of a fighter but not an all time great.

To change all the UFC. Forever.

Aka

Cro Cop doesn't lose against Gonzaga so he could have became a great champ in the UFC

Conor is defeated by Aldo so the non sense era will be delayed

Jones is defeated also on paper by Reyes, so LHW gets more competitive

Ken Shamrock beats Royce Gracie at UFC 1, so wrestling could have became the primary grappling base

What's yours ?
You said pick one.

For me it's by far Conor not winning against Aldo.

Conor loses, he does not hold the division hostage, he probably moves to lightweight but has to fight contenders instead of getting immediate titleshot, probably does not get it while Alvarez is champ, another division is not held hostage. He's not catapulted into superstardom, so no Mayweather fight, no bus incident. And probably a less lot of BS that happened in that era of the UFC that anticipated the BS that is happening now with all those undeserving titleshots.

And yeah, I know undeserving titleshots and keeping contenders hostage happened before (GSP - Diaz, Chael, Brock) but never were they that normalized as they are now. And I think the Conor era is a huge wrongdoer in that regard.

Same.

Paul Daley beats Josh Koscheck UFC 113
He never hits him after the fight and stays in the UFC

If this was the end to Crocodile Vs Gonzaga 1 we would've had Crocop Vs Randy for the belt.

i remember this! like 2014 or 2015? both were past their primes but this was such a surprise.

Diaz's titleshot against GSP was undeserved, he was coming off a loss and Hendricks was a clear number one contender.
You are half right. Diaz didn't really deserve it but GSP wanted to beat his ass. Hendricks was not a #1 contender. Guess when he became #1 contender?

At UFC 158 when he fought Condit in a title eliminator, same card GSP fought Hendricks. There literally was no one for GSP to fight when he decided he was gonna give Nick the beating he missed out on due to GSP's ACL injury.
