I think he has a legitimate place to fight Dustin. I'm not going to bash Oliveira because I like him too. I'm just wondering if you've watched Chandler's fights? If Chandler doesn't get Dustin but gets Gaethje what would you say if he takes Geathje down, GNP's him and submits him? For the record Dana was asked the next fight and he said Dustin vs Chandler. How is this relevant? First off it was years ago. Second, Brooks did horrible in the UFC. He went 1-3 in the UFC and got finished 3 times in that run. Maybe it was USADA testing or maybe he'd just started to decline at that point. He is 3-4-1 since he left Bellator. Chandler on the other hand has gone 10-2 since their last fight.

Its weird how Dana has often referred to Bellator as a b league and you could see a bit of smugness when Askren got sent to heaven by Masvidal. Yet he seems to be promoting Chandler like no one else. Is it because Chandler has played along with DWs viewpoint of "Bellator being the b league" or it is just because DW naturally strongly promotes guys who he personally gets along with? You could always tell he hated Askren but seems to really like Chandler hence why he's giving him the title opportunity. in no world but danas world does Chandler deserver it over Oliveira.

Yea, forced to choose, that’s what I would choose. Oliveira crushed Tony Ferguson. He also did to Tony exactly what Khabib did to Dustin — take him down and squash him. The best fights have great narratives, and Dustin trying to beat an elite grappler is (to me) more interesting than trying to beat another big puncher.

Also, while I agree that Chandler is well-spoken (for a fighter), he’s not exactly a hype machine. He and DP would just compliment one another on what great husbands and dads they are. “You’re the best dad, man.” “No man, you’re the best dad.” “No way man, YOU’RE the best dad.”

Is that really any more interesting than Oliveira talking to an interpreter? I’ll take Oliveira vs DP while Chandler faces Gaethje for the next shot on the same night. If Chukles blows the weight cut we can argue over who gets to step in.

Fair point. I feel that if they fought each other (for a title shot), it might actually be detrimental, as they are both fresh challengers for the belt. I say give Chuckie Olives the next shot, and either have Chandler on standby on the same card, or match him up with someone like Tony.

He knows how the average mma fan is going to view this - especially the fight before conor-poirier and how Mike won.

I think Dustin just flat out handles Mike ( nothing against Chandler- will probably hold a top 5-6 standing in division).

Although not his style , Charl O needs to self promote this thing .....and be rude about it. Poirier vs do bronx is the only fight that should be talked about. Imagine Charles comes in, more than holds his own against DP in stand up , and grounds Poirier and taps him out at some point. This is what nurmagomedov would need to see to " possibly " come back and go for 30.
I love both Dustin and Charles - been backing both for awhile. I actually give Oliveria the slight advantage and DP would come in as the slightest of favorites.

You are missing the point. My point is Oliveira deserves it more thán Chandler. Yes, Chandler ia a legit competitor for the UFC top after his Hooker performance. But he should still fight one more to earn the title shot. Logisch toch?

I guess he deserves it for being a company man with a great winning streak. I don't argue he doesn't deserve it btw, but I think Chandler is (financially) a more interesting fighter for the UFC right now. Him winning against Hooker boosts his status a lot. He is marketable, Poirier doesnt want him (which makes for an interesting build up) and he is expensive. Beside that, Champler really shook the division up with a great performance.

I guess we will see. As long as they don't make Poirier x McGregor III, I'm fine with it.

Olivera rightfully deserves to be matched with Dustin... No real argument even with Chandlers most excellent debut.

Dustin took little damage putting McGregor where he belongs so the Vacant belt can be disputed in a month or two.

If Chandler wants to wait a few months and take on the winner, fine... If he wants to headline a card against another Elite while time goes on... Fine too.

Dana needs to realize that Khabib took off his gloves and relinquished his belt... It's done and the Championship is vacated and has been for months.

Hungry lions need to fight often and Dana needs to officially Vacate this slot and get guys busy fighting.
