I am on the exact same sentiment as you.he's a better fighter than dustin, but he gave that win away it's heart breaking. now everyone is going to think dustin is one of the best lw's to ever fight in the ufc when in reality he's not even top 10.
It's annoying, but it's how these fighters get boosted.
I always cringe whenever I hear people on this site claiming that Dustin is the best boxer in the division. I can't tell if they are watching the same fight as I am because from my point of view, it just looks like Dustin has the better gas tank. Conor, Oliveira and Oliveira are all better, refined strikers than Poirier. Also, Poirier's hands are downright too slow to land anything when his opponents are fresh.
I predicted going into Saturday that people are wrong to think that Poirier's striking is tougher to deal for Chandler than Tony's. It was exactly as I predicted. Chandler had no issue hurting Poirier at will early. I knew this because from Chandler's fight against Gaethje, he is the quicker and more powerful striker when he is fresh. As to why Chandler couldn't put him away. It's not the lack of killer instinct or his low iq. It was his physical limitation. There were moments in the fight where like an adult holding a child's head while the child is swinging into the air, Chandler's height prevented him from landing.
