If they strip Conor of the title is he no longer under the Champion clause in the UFC??

So i did some investigating and discovered that Conor after defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 194 signed a new contract for 5-6 fights.

Since then he's had 4 fights when we include the co-promoted May/Mac bout.

That leaves Conor with possibly 1 fight left before he becomes a free agent and can ditch the UFC, who has turned into that gold digger girlfriend who hasnt aged well. The only thing preventing Conor from breaking up with Dana and Co. is the championship clause that prevents any champion from ever leaving the UFC to fight under another promotion.

But if they strip Conor of his title will they have to concede the championship clause??

If so it would make sense as to why the UFC will not strip him of the title.

So i was curious if Conor is trying to get stripped, he hasnt fought in the UFC since Nov. And has no fight signed, and he is almost regarded as non existent in the UFC.

Also a side note, GSP couldve played the same game, GSP stated on his return he did not want to be a champion, he wanted fun fights for the fans that would sell well, but the UFC would not allow GSP to take a non title fight because they didnt want to concede the championship clause in his contract.

GSP could've held on to the MW title with colitis until being stripped, instead opted to vacate the title which still binds him to the championship clauses so the division can move forward.

Oh yeah, he's wants that Bellator/Viacom Money playboy.

Where would he go? It would be boxing or nothing. He already reached his peak in boxing by fighting Mayweather first and going to another MMA promotion would make no sense. And I really doubt the Mayweather fight counts as a fight on his contract.

Quick question: Is Champion Clause related to Santa Clause?

He might be thinking that McGregor Promotions whether he's boxing or fighting MMA where he gets 100% of the money seems a far better deal. Of course that disregards the strength of the UFC promotion, although if you compare recent PPV sales where they don't have big stars on the card maybe that is no longer the case.

As long as Ferg and Khabib are the top two guys at 155, Conor isn't coming back....that's his clause..

I thought he signed before the aldo fight?

Conor has 4 fights left on his contract.

"It will never happen; that's not even possible. He's under contract with us. You have a contract for a reason.

"Let me tell you what, there are a lot of contracts out there, no matter what business you are in - UFC or whatever - and it's pretty tough to get out of a contract.

"And if that's what Conor wants to do, he's got four fights left. He's got four fights left with the UFC. Fight your four fights and, you know, go out and do what you want to do."

He would want to more build up his own brand, McGregor Promotions, and possibly do some MMA boing hybrid type stuff as well as having a promotion to help his buddies get notoriety.

Where would he go? Really??? He can fucking disappear for once damn it. That would be great!!. He has done a lot of damage to the sport, that douchebag can go to hell, a lot of the bullshit we have now in the UFC is because this clown.

I suspect every time he renegotiates a new contract, the number of the fights in the contract resets. So champion or not, the UFC still owns him for at least 4 more fights.

If he did manage to leave, starting his own org would be the most money making thing he could do. Instead of of having the UFC take the biggest cut, Conor would take both his personal salary and the org profits.

I think you're holding back. How do you really feel about this?

Interesting post, thanks TS.

Notorious Whiskey is the most money making thing he could do.

Take George Clooney for example -

The actor is selling his Casamigos tequila brand to Diageo, the owner of Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Cîroc, for up to $1 billion.

You get a fight contracr that is negotiated for every fight. There is nothing that makes us believe it resets after every fight
