Chael Sonnen: "It's very hard for me to listen to anybody say that GSP isn't the best"

Uncle Chael just dropped a video talking about what the title of "Greatest Of All Time" means, and said that his pick is GSP.

Some cliffs:

Says that guys from the past (Couture, Marco Ruas, Royce) should get credit, but shouldn't be ranked above modern guys.

Says that people get caught up in fighters displaying flashy offense (Anderson, JBJ) and rate them way higher than guys that just dominate their opponents with a more conventional approach (Khabib).

Says that George did something that no other fighter has done, beat guys from three different generations while cleaning out his division, and that's why he's his pick for GOAT.

Chael P. Sonnen, dropping truth bombs as usual.

He wasn't the best before beating Bisping, and he damn sure isn't after.

The best at ducking fights I would call him.

Chael has really step up in his talking game, from making the worst predictions in regular basis to dropping very interesting and knowledgeable content, I also agree GSP is the GOAT but I have no problem with people picking other fighters

I like Chael's arguments here.

I just can't wrap my mind around those who won't even put GSP in the conversation. I'm sorry, but if Anderson is in the conversation, GSP is most definitely there. If Fedor is, GSP is most definitely there.

The only person who I think resume/achievment-wise could really rank above GSP is Jones. Beat a bunch of elite people and never lost a fight other than a DQ. But it's tough to see how history ultimately views him because he got popped. That makes a difference.

I think the generation thing is something people forget about; very few fighters can claim they beat the best fighters in their division from different generations, as we all know that styles and techniques definitely change over time. Not mention the whole coming back and beating a heavier Bisping thing ;)

Fedor, Anderson, and GSP were champions for the exact same amount of time so this is some bias jive.

Uncle chael educating the masses.

I like it and it offers comfort for me.

There you are.

There’s a fool in every thread.

Just reminding everyone that chael said Mitrione is the greatest active HW

I think he said that because people just like to give more time in the spotlight to guys that get flashy finishes, regardless of whether they were dominant in the fight or not, as opposed to guys that just do things by the books and get next to no attention.

He did give Anderson his props, but I think he still went ahead with GSP not only because of the generation thing, but because he rarely looked vulnerable, unlike Anderson.

Really? What fights did GSP duck while he was Champion?
Anderson isn't an answer. It was talked about off and on, both GSP and AS were defending their belts regularly in their respective divisons. Also the moving up or down Ch vs Ch fights rarely ever happened then. Talked about but hardly ever happened.

So who in GSP'S divison did he ever duck?

Jon Jones was champion of a heavier division at 23 years old. Look at all the 23 year olds that you know, and you see any one of them becoming the champion of the UFC's LHW division?

But not only becoming the champion, also, going on to dominate the division.

The guy was LHW champion at 23 years old. He wasn't even a fully grown human being, and he stepped inside a cage, and smashed grown ass men.

At 23 years old, where were you, Chael and GSP? LOL
