Let's give it up for the American Gangster, Sherdog.

Love him or hate him, he made fans and haters alike look forward to seeing his matches. His humor, wit, and antics were unparalleled in a stagnant era in MMA. Sure, many will point out that he didn't invent trash talk. Of course he didn't. He just took it to another level, and basically sold 1 million PPV's with his sharp tongue (Silva / Sonnen 2), despite his not-so-exciting style.

His win over Shogun was one of the most memorable moment his fans (myself included) reveled in, and MMA was just not the same after he left the scene. The advent of Conor McGregor might have soothed the aching hearts of some Sonnen fans, but there will be only one Chael Patrick Sonnen.

Chael Sonnen, thank you for entertaining us and being a breath of fresh air in mixed martial arts.

Thanks for the memories, Chael.

He was okay simply because it became somewhat entertaining when he was so over-the-top. But I definitely wouldn't call it a breath of fresh air. I'm not really into this fake WWE trash talk too much. Now, if a fighter seems to have a REAL authentic beef with another fighter or two, fine. But leave the WWE stuff in WWE for the most part.

VERY VERY VERY VERY UNPOPULAR OPINION:
He has a very good point about Pride.

Love Chael. Got the opportunity to speak with him personally, the only fighter I've ever had that privilege with, and he was beyond nice as fuck. Super guy.

Sorry but this guy knowingly cheated in a sport where you can hurt someone physically, that should not sit well with people.

Great champion inside the cage, great man outside it.

Remember this? Lol

I always found Chael to be entertaining. His fights not so much. Although I do respect how he'd never pull out of a fight

still one of my favs, funny, trash talking god and nice dude... On his twitter he had a picture with him wearing two titles... wish I could find that again..
