Basically says that other guys would have kept the title for at least a year in order to pose as champion and earn sponsorship money and get media attention. GSP should be praised for not holding the division hostage for a year but vacating really quickly.

Gods recognise gods.

GSP was right and so is Chael.

Holding on to the belt and letting the division stall is way worse, just vacate the belt.

LOL, Chael, the weasel, defending that guy....

Such a shame.

Chael is an attention whore, but he is right here 100%

He stalled the division for 1.5 years already when he called out Bisping in June of 2016 rather than waiting until he was ready to fight in mid 2017.

I agree that he made the right choice. He basically made the belt 'free' again.

Problem is he shouldn't have had the title shot in the first place...

biggest quitter in all of MMA.

he can't even finish his title reign. Twice.

So he makes the decisions for the ufc? Lol, ok.

I'm glad GSP gave up the belt. He was a dominate champ for so long at 170 that I think he deserved the change at 185 if he wanted it. He was successful, and is now walking away. I very much respect that.

Ya, he should have turned down an opportunity to make a shit ton of money and be a two division champion. Would you have turned it down in his position? Honestly?

Although this has been posted already, I agree with Chael. Most people will look at GSP as a duck and won't face stiff competition but since we are not GSP, we don't know what health issues he has. All we can do is feed the fire on GSP being a piece of shit for not defending, or we can commend him for not holding the MW division hostage.

Fuck the haters and bull shit excuses. Dude fought clean, never pissed hot, won fights.

GSP will keep winning and his haters will keep hating. Is normal.

He knows exactly how the game works. He's the second highest PPV star in the UFC. He put his name in the hat, negotiated the fight prior to Hendo being announced, even though he knew he wouldn't be ready until late 2017. He did this because he wanted the Bisping fight.

If he simply wanted whoever was MW champ - He would have waited until he was ready and called out whoever was champ. Instead he called out Bisping when he knew he wasn't ready. The result:

The MW division stalled for 1.5 years - Mousasi in Bellator - Jacare and Romero losing title shots they already earned. And one of the best lineal belts in the UFC tossed in the bin.

He took the belt from Bisping and dropped it right in the pool of contenders that Bisping refused to fight.

#HUMBLEGOAT !!! If only Sonnen had some "Riddum". Might have one a belt.

Didn't Bisping call him out?

Chael always gives positive coverage of GSP no matter the circumstances. The problem with Chael's point is that GSP already has the sponsorships, money & media opportunities etc because he is a huge draw regardless of him being champ or not: his legacy and fame is cemented. Totally different when you are an up and coming guy who just became champ.
