Cote who fought a middleweight title fight against Anderson and even won heavyweight and light heavyweight titles in other orgs, just got DESTROYED by Cerrone a lightweight.

Lightweight and welterweight are 15 pounds away from each other which IMO is alright. But having weight divisions only 10 pounds away from each other is ridiculous.

It should be:
Lightweight 155
Featherweight 140
Flyweight 125

Let the current bantamweights choose between feather and fly.

And I know the obvious argument that Mcgregor lost to Nate who is in a weightclass only 10 pounds higher. But I don't think Mcgregor lost that fight because of size. Mcgregor was gassed after the 1st round in that fight. He simply lost from having poor conditioning and/or diet and condition is the one advantage that a lighter fighter should have over a bigger fighter. It's not like Nate over powered him with wrestling. That was a fight won with conditioning and not size.

Too many weight classes.

IF the Chinese guys buy the UFC get ready for mens atom-weight division :D

I respectfully disagree. I don't think there are enough weight classes.

The gap between lightweight/welterweight and middleweight/lightheavyweight are pretty huge.

I would like it if there was a new weight class every 10 pounds, and at least one or two more weight classes above light heavyweight.

Many fighters are stuck between weight classes, and more weight classes would provide optimal room for fighters to find a more suitable class that is comfortable for them so we get the best performances from all fighters.

one fight don't prove anything but I'd like to see less weight classes

Unless you get more examples this means nothing. Especially since Cote fought at the heavier weight classes back in the day when the competition was easier at the regional shows.

this guy fought tito ortiz at 205 and leben at 185

if the weightclass is at 110 or lower I don't mind.

So the heavyweight division is being ruled by small heavyweights who not only don't need to cut weight, they can eat buffets every day and still make it under 255 lbs, but you think there should be another weight class between LHW and HW? lol

Makes zero sense.

Just my opinion. Nobody is forcing you to agree.

there are literally hundreds of examples.
Hendo's ko of Fedor
Poirier destroying guys after moving up a division
small Heavyweights beating guys 30-40 lbs bigger
Flyweight Dodson ko'd Bantamweight Dillashaw

thats just off the top of my head.

Cowboy got wrecked my Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis.

Pettis lost convincely to Barboza and Alvarez.

Cowboy dismantled both of them.

Cote put on a spectacular rookie fight the UFC against still relevant Tito.

Fabio freaking Maldonado beat Fedor into within an inch of his life yesterday.

This is MMA. Anything can happen. That why we watch.

It's almost like some guys perform better when cutting weight and other guys perform better when not cutting a lot of weight. I'd prefer they make it 155, 165, 175

Cote sucks; that's why Cerrone won. Cerrone is a better all-around fighter. Cote just has a reasonable chin and reasonable punching power and he's sometimes entertaining to watch

If anything, there should be another weight-class between light heavyweight and heavyweight

Just because a fighter from one division moving to another division and starts winning doesn't justify that there should be more weight classes. Sometimes, like Poirier's case, it means that they were cutting too much weight to a division that they didn't belong.

"Reasonable chin" and "reasonable punching power?" Dude has one of the sturdiest chins in MMA history and hits like a truck. Sherdog hyperbole normally goes in the other direction, just so you know.

yes...that's why i used the terms reasonable instead of unreasonable which are not hyperbole, they are quite fitting
speaking of hyperbole..."hits like a truck" and "sturdiest chins in mma history"...really? lmao. he just got tko'ed by a good 155er
sorry (not sorry) that you didn't like my terminology
