Everyone knows what a legendary chin Cote has and his only TKO loss prior to last night was an injury he suffered against Anderson Silva.

Was anyone else surprised that Cerrone was the first person to finish Cote with strikes?

I was surprised it was with punches.
I have no doubt there is no people that can survive a flush Cerrone switch kick to the dome.
But Cowboy's punching looked awesome tonight and he cracked Cote hard and clean, it was awesome, he put on an amazing performance in every department.

Well Sakara tko'd him and got rather harshly DQ'd.. but yeah, I was certainly surprised that Cerrone was able to drop him repeatedly. He got Cote's timing down early, and Pat didn't seem to have any kind of answer/plan b.

It was a little bit of a chocker yes, (beautiful bitch slap too), but anytime Cerrone fights you know there will be fireworks. He only seems to be getting better by the years.

dropped him 3 times, that's what was the most impressive. it wasn't like one good shot and then a finish, that's how on point cerrone was last night.

but cerrone will do that against anyone who lets him set up - you can't let him dictate pace or he's almost unbeatable.

Watching that fight last night showed why people really like Donald and what a complete fighter can accomplish. His stand up was great, he had take downs, BJJ, and cardio for days. Since he is a tall guy wonder what he would look like if he put on the mass to be a 170er for good?

Cerrone looked absolutely phenomenal at 170 tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing him against a top 10 opponent next.

Cote knew he was hurt and said screw it I'll go out swinging, a big reason why I've been a Cote fan for years. Legit performance by Cowboy I'm sure we will see him fighting again very soon.

I would count Sakara because I think the DQ was blown out of proportion. But technically, yeah he's the first.

leg kicks took out his mobility

left him a sitting duck

Cowboy is very interesting to me because he talks about how sometimes he's in "the zone" and everything was connecting and flowing smoothly. Then he says there's times when he can't get into the zone no matter what he does and he chokes.

He says its almost like a switch that goes on in his head and its like he's playing a video game in 3rd person when he's in that mode.

Tonight he was clearly in that zone and looked damn near perfect.

Especially against Nate..I was expecting him to get beat up a bit, but Diaz put it on him..Cerrone seemed he could have stopped Diaz, even with his chin and durability..I think that's any fighter, tho..Maybe just how you come out of camp. IDK..

That's what happens when you stop dehydrating the shit out of yourself and fight at a comfortable weight. Great performance.

Big fan of Cowboy, glad he won, but Cote should be both respected and a fan favorite too. I'm a fan of Cote, but was pulling for Cerrone more..I didn't think Cerrone was gonna win and especially like that..

lol @ posters bringing up the Sakara fight. He dropped him with an elbow and Cote went for the TD. Sakara knew he couldn't do shit if it went to the ground so he finished him with multiple strikes to the back of the head. He even admitted his mistake after the fight and didn't protest the DQ at all once the adrenaline wore off.

Yeh, I was surprised Cerrone was the first to finish him with strikes.
