Strange comment. It has nothing to do with genetics; it's about social priorities/status and how certain places maximize human capital. It's the same reason that certain U.S. cities and regions produce great basketball players, others great wrestlers, others great football players, etc.

In any event, I always thought that Russia (and the surrounding region) would eventually take over mma. It always made sense given their focus/prowess inn wrestling and sambo.

Just wait until you see an explosive A-level athlete in mma. Too bad UFC pays so little, or we would see the best genetic athletes destroying everyone. The closest we have come is the weakest brother of 2 NFL players and he is already the GOAT. Could you imagine if jon jones’ more athletic brothers did mma? They would no doubt be even better than jones, they literally beat jones up growing up. Jones had to go into a niche sport (at the time) and he dominated. Hopefully the UFC pays more so the talent pool gets better.
