Cliffs:
-Boy Scout chapter sponsored by Catholic diocese raises $2,800.
-Chapter votes to allow gays.
-Diocese stops sponsoring them, sponsors new group banning gays
-Boy Scouts ask for some of the money they raised.
-Diocese tells them to f$@# off.

The Catholic Church poses as a church and enjoys all of the breaks, but actions like these are more indicative of a political org or business.

boy scouts should sue them for the money they raised

they got off lightly
this is the nicest way the catholic church has ever fucked a bunch of young boys ..cash instead of prison love mode

I don't think there are refunds on donations.

What did they want the money for, anyway? Just to punish them for withdrawing sponsorship?

According to the article, the Diocese is legally within their rights to do this. But I have to think they are pocketing less than the example will ultimately cost them from people who see them as money grubbing whores.

The Catholic Church does a lot of charitable things most people would support, but when you're getting ready to open your wallet you have to think of crap like this.

A few scouts decided to stay in the Diocese's new group, if they had kept a portion of the money equivalent to those staying I'd say they were being fair.

Not sure I understand your questions.

The scouts raised the $ thru popcorn sales and such, planning to use it for badges and other scout related expenses. When they were de-sponsored, they wanted the $ for the same thing under their new sponsor.

Planned Parenthood gets alot of tax breaks (as well as the extra plus of tax payer funds) and they're clearly a political org/business.

Are you as upset about that?

Boy scouts should say they were molested by priests. Get money and more back.

Well, the kids might be educated in the public school system.... where the chances of sexual abuse by far outstrip its likelihood within the Catholic Church.

Boy Scouts should consider that a small price to pay to not have to be associated with an organization like the Catholic Church.

And I hope whatever money they kept is quickly taken from them and goes straight to all the Sexual Abuse Victims the Church keeps turning out.

I don't think an affair with a hot 30 year old lady counts as sexual abuse the same way getting railed by a grown man counts as sexual abuse. That's just me though.

I can't even fathom putting my kid in boy scouts sponsored by the Catholic Church.

It makes sense that the Catholic church would ban gay scouts. As I understand it, there's nothing the priesthood finds more detestable than young boys interested in sucking dicks.
