Carla Esparza to get title shot vs Zhang?

I'm pretty confident it was always gonna be Rose at this point. However both fights did get announced within like 24 hours, so maybe it really was taht close.
I think it was meant to be Rose, but she kept playing hardball so the UFC was using Carla as leverage, and I also believe that Sucker Punch Ent/ Brian Butler, who manages all three of Zhang, Rose, and Esparza, was doing his best to ensure that each fighter got the most out of whatever went down.

You think it was actually like that, and it was up in the air and Rose took the fight at the last second?
Honestly, I'm not sure anymore. But I think the most likely scenario is that they were committed to making the Zhang & Rose fight all along but during a particularly tough spot it the negotiations Dana & co. used the threat of giving the opportunity to Carla instead as leverage.
And my wife just happened to be in contact with Carla on Facebook at that stage & I thought it was a done deal. And now I'm eating a wee bit of crow for jumping the gun by mentioning it here. But that's OK, it doesn't taste too bad as long as it's smothered in hot sauce. LOL.

Well I'll root for Carla, I admire her tenacity for making it back this far in the division. She's got a tall task ahead of her though

Yan doesn't really deserve a title shot right now tho. Rose vs Carla would be fine, I guess, but what's Zhang gonna do?

Also what's with the quotation marks in "win"? Rose definitely won that fight.

Disagree, on both accounts. Rose survived that fight...but the aggregate of two fights with Andrade was that Rose took two brutal ass-kickings. People still post pics of "winner" GSP's face after his bout with Hendricks as evidence he may not have actually won that fight. Here is the face of the "winner", Rose. GSP's face looked fine compared to this.

Not exactly the form of a champion, or the next deserving contender.

Yan is undefeated in the UFC, riding a 6-win streak including wins over two former title contenders. Not sure why anyone would consider unworthy of the next title shot.

Yan is cresting and only getting better. Rose has been brutally beaten down in her last two. The women Rose "beat" looked fine after their fight and has even fought and won since then. Rose, the "winner" has been sidelined, out of commission, for a year from the beating she took. Comparing their most recent performances, I think Yan is more deserving of a title shot. Rose needs to prove she can do more than just survive/get KOed by top competition. Plus, Rose should want to avenge her loss to Esparza (who easily and trivially dispatched Rose in their previous encounter).

So what? She took more damage, but she still won that fight. Sorry to inform you, that's how the sport works. Yan still hasn't beaten anyone too relevant yet. Karolina was on a 3 fight losing streak. Carla even deserves it more than she does.

Rose doesn't need to prove a damn thing. She knocked out Joanna the first time, and then decisively defeated her the second time. Since then, we've only seen her face Andrade. People have such short memories.

They may have a similar amount of MMA matches with Rose at 20 and Joanna at 22 in total but Joanna had about 100 combat sports matches prior to that while Rose had 0.

Joanna picked up more subdermal scar tissue on her face from just her time sparring and fighting under Ernesto Hoost than Rose will ever have in her entire career.

Joanna bruises from the most pillow fisted fighter in the division touching her face. When it comes to her such comparisons mean less than nothing. Rose's face was bruised as shit too but it won't be as evident until she gets into more wars and it will never look like Joanna's that easily because she will retire long before that.

You should know better than to bring up such comparisons.

Rose knocked out Joanna dude. She's the only one to do it. Don't tell me Rose can't hurt Joanna

Why do people keep defending indefensible arguments by re-framing, ie lying, about what I write.

This is usually where I would go into giving a better argument for you to make or what I think you are trying to make but I just don't give a fuck.

You came into another argument and completely derailed the convo. What do you expect me to do? Rose beat the shit out of Joanna, both times. That's the fact. She didn't just survive those fights, she won them. That's what I was arguing with the other guy. I don't know where you come in.

Did I stutter?

You made an uneducated poor comparison for your argument and I pointed it out and gave the detail behind why it's an uneducated poor comparison. You should have let it be but you just can't help yourself can you. That's why you just keep digging yourself further into a hole.

And now that you brought it up no Rose didn't beat the shit out of Joanna twice.

For the record the first fight Joanna was told by everybody around her to go to the hospital and instead she hid her failed weight cut, a poorly kept secret, and was even warned the day of the fight that she had failed to recover, her legs would randomly go numb, but ignored it. Rose didn't beat the shit out of her. Rose put her out of her misery. Tecia would have TKOed Joanna that night and looked like the next Rousey. She stupidly fought compromised and made decisions in a mental state where she shouldn't have been allowed to make them. An HBO Poland crew followed her that night but she had kicked them out of the room and is now kicking herself for it.

As for the second fight Rose's entire face was evenly bruised, just like Weili's, along with her leg where Joanna was trying to hit her calf. I already explained why Rose didn't show as much damage as Joanna. Rose won but it was a very close fight. All three judges gave Joanna a different round. You make it sound like it was a complete beatdown. That's completely bullshit.

Where I come in?

I probably know more about the details surrounding this outside of her camp and family than anybody else as I followed every shred of detail I could find as it slowly came out over the course of a year plus because I wanted to understand how this could have happened. I consumed every article, interview, including Polish ones that I could find translation for or partially translated to English, and obscure podcast I could find including her S&C coach during this time. That last one caused me to drop a year into the rabbit hole of S&C and only scratched the surface.

HBO Poland completed a documentary where some of this stuff will be detailed and apparently she also detailed a lot of it in the end of the revised copy of her first biography which is slowly being translated to English atm. Her second biography, which details her life post Rose loss, is almost done translation. They are having some issue with the first one.

You're just making excuses for Joanna's losses now.

That's what Joanna looked like after their second fight.
The first Joanna fight was 3.5 years ago.all rose has done Denice then is scrape past Joanna the second time, get KOd, then scrape by yet another rematch. Almost four years and she’s had two opponent. The whole landscape of the division has changed since then. I swear you fanbois will keep bringing that fight up ten years after it stops being relevant.

It is relevant. It's not like Joanna's been passed by like Ronda. Joanna arguably beat Weili for the title. Two wins over her is still very, very relevant.
