The Eagle was laid off for 2 yrs. Cruz was laid off for what 4 yrs and was still on main card and another 2 yrs and was main eventing. If you're anybody of significance, you will only get more popular the longer you wait.
I agree but what are you going to do? Demote her from Champ to #10? I'm surprised she is #2 and not #1 actually. But yes, she is not that good. But at the same time, you can't demote her too much after being champ.

Like I said, part of the reason she's on the prelims is because of shertards who don't like her for whatever reason. But the fact still stands that she's one of the best in the world and won both Invicta and UFC Championships.

I'm sorry but you have to look at the context.


She won TUF. That's what she won. She got to be the first beltholder, cool, but look what happened. Someone who wasn't on that TUF came in and whooped her ass horribly and took that belt and defended it a few times now.

Joanna is the first real champ there. Carla can honestly say she was a UFC champ, and that's cool for her, but as far as how she's looked at by fans and matchmakers, she's more like a TUF winner than a former champ.

I agree. Also, for comparison purposes, she also has not fought Gadelha, but lost a split decision to Aguilar who got handled easily by Gadelha.

Add to that the fact that some new entries in this division have went up in the rankings (Kowalkiewicz, Letourneau, etc). These women have had fights in the meantime while Esparza has done nothing. She deserves to be unranked just like any other fighter that doesn't fight.
