CAPTAIN MARVEL v.2 (First Critics Reviews)

I'd hope as well Marvel have enough sense not to create their own Superman, DC really have no choice as to power level of sups as everyone expects it to be godlike but the result is films endlessly bending over backwards to actually make him vulnerable.

Imagine being so much of a worthless PoS that you take time out of your day to write bad reviews of a movie you haven't watched and claim to have no interest in watching.

Not exactly a good use of time and I don't know why anyone would care enough to do so, but on a scale of 1 to 100, I'd put prematurely or dishonestly criticizing Captain Marvel at around a 3 or 4 on the Piece of Shit scale.

The big issue of course is that the film has been deliberately politicised ala Last Jedi which is going to draw out a lot of ire.

If they want to do stuff like GoFundMe for girls only to watch the movie, or have Brie Larson talk politics incessantly, they shouldn't be too surprised if a few basement dudes write some premature bad reviews. I'm sure they'll have plenty of equally dishonest praise coming their way as well.

I should have gone with "waste of space" or "pencil neck geek".

What if they're right though?

A broken clock is right twice a day, bro.

Fact is, they haven't seen it and are using their hatred of Brie Larson to assume it's really SJW heavy and a bad movie.

How so? Maybe I've not been watching the trailers closely enough, missed a leaked script or not read enough articles, but how has the movie been politicised?

Not being a dick, I've only watched the trailers and seen a couple of hate vids on Youtube.

This. Like Wonder Woman before it, Captain Marvel is basically critic-proof. I don't think it will be a bad movie, but nothing I've seen or read so far leads me to believe it will come anywhere near the standards of Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Civil War or Infinity War.

This is true, but Ant-Man and The Wasp didn't come close to those movies (probably my top 4 too) neither do most of them.

I'm not invested in the character and don't find the recent comics with her all that great (I did like the Captain America being Hydra story though) but I think it'll be good enough.

I've been noticing attacks on the movie videos on YouTube popping up in my feed. Bizarre times we live in.
I say it all the time on this forum.

The people who are always up in arms about anything SJW are the mirror to the SJW movement. One and the same. Everything they hate about SJW's they embody.

These critics are all paid by marvel studios, anyone who takes them serious is very naive indeed.

Waiting on actual audience (READ: not fanbois) ratings.

Although saying that my daughter is very excited for this film
I would definitely not be shocked if Disney was paying reviewers. The 'love everything Disney' and 'crap on everything DC' seemed all too convenient. Content aside it just tough to get that time of uniformity.

Has it ever been confirmed that Disney or others are paying for positive reviews? Surely such a thing across dozens or even hundreds of reviews cannot be hidden for a long time. Disgruntled reviewers would post screen shots of the payments coming in to their accounts.

Has anyone ever provided such evidence? @Dragonlordxxxxx, or anyone have you heard or seen it?

I feel like they're doing a pre-emptive clean up with slogans and insults to people who wouldn't like this movie.

Celebrities in general just need to shut their mouths and do their jobs.

I think they deliberately plan for both personally, hoping a few "basement" negative reviews will help drive the film as something of political substance.

The funny thing is, if they didn't try to hype her up as the new face of the MCU and just let it happen organically, they would have more support among the fans.

Hyping her up in interviews coupled with Brie Larson using the Ghostbusters 2016 model of marketing hurt them more than help them. If they just shut up and let the trailers / TV spots do the marketing, this would still be tracking for a $120m+ opening weekend.

Read the first run reviews last night:

Yes, we all know that reviewers want to be positive about any Disney project because they want to keep being invited to the cool kids parties.

However, the bulk of the positives I read were about how Ben Mendelsohn stole the show and that the movie sets up the next chapters of the MCU nicely.

The only similar movie I could compare it to would be Wonder Woman and I don't think they tried to alienate comic book fans (white male) with their lead actress.

I don't think they have to pay them. That would be stupid and cause a PR shit storm if just one reviewer exposed that. All they have to do is give them free stuff and dangle the carrot of inviting them to future launches. They get pampered at these launches too.

I recall one reviewer being told that he was not going to be invited to future launches because he gave TLJ a bad review.

Yea I never heard that Wonder Woman was gonna single-handedly defeat Darkseid or see Gal Gadot talking shit about white males on Twitter.

The worst I remember before the movie came out was nerdy weirdos talking about Gadot being too skinny and having small titties.

Every mainstream superhero movie has some amount of viewer finding something trivial to complain about but Captain Marvel is getting 20x more pre-release criticism than Wonder Woman and they continue to pretend that's par for the course.

Not a Fan of Captain Marvel in the comics so that line dead to me. Anyways Mendelson looks like a show stealer eh. Also when someone says Marvel formula it sounds idiotic to me because I can clearly see how different a Coogler's style is vs say the Russos , Gunn or Waititi, that just reads like lazy fucking writing .
It's funny that many people I meet who are self-proclaimed contrarians say they love the MCU.

Turns out they were caught up in an echo chamber of elitist "superhero movies are all the same and suck" discussion that they thought they were unique in loving the MCU.

Oh btw once I tried to talk to them about the MCU I realized they didn't know much about it. Haha.

Gal Gadot's response to criticism of her casting...I don't remember word for word, but she seemed to kind of just brush it off.
