Not a Fan of Captain Marvel in the comics so that line dead to me. Anyways Mendelson looks like a show stealer eh. Also when someone says Marvel formula it sounds idiotic to me because I can clearly see how different a Coogler's style is vs say the Russos , Gunn or Waititi, that just reads like lazy fucking writing .

What fans? Isn't Captain Marvel one of the worst selling comics from Marvel?

I tried reading the current Captain Marvel series a few years ago. It was so boring.

Sounds like white man Ben Mendelsohn stole the show.

Unless the film is an absolute dumpster fire, the pre-release reactions are almost always positive. Doubly so for this film which, because it's the MCU's first female led movie, is basically critic proof.

I'll reserve judgement until I read the reactions of people who have actually paid their own money to see it.

The usual critic deep throating when a new movie that comes out pushing the usual narrative. Will wait for the unbiased reviews.

Yup, The last Jedi has 91% from boot licking critics, with an audience score at 45%

You can tell whose boots they lick based on the Orville. Now that Disney owns the property, season 2 on RT is sitting at 100% with critics so far. Season 1, which was better IMO (love both) has 31%.

If Capt Marvel is going to play a big role in Endgame, then I hope it does well. I really don't want a hollow Rey-like character out of nowhere.

These critics are all paid by marvel studios, anyone who takes them serious is very naive indeed.

Waiting on actual audience (READ: not fanbois) ratings.

Although saying that my daughter is very excited for this film

I'll wait for audience reaction from the countries that get it 2 days earlier than everywhere else:

Denmark 6 March 2019
Finland 6 March 2019
France 6 March 2019
Indonesia 6 March 2019
Italy 6 March 2019
Netherlands 6 March 2019
Norway 6 March 2019 (premiere)
Philippines 6 March 2019
Sweden 6 March 2019

I do wonder though...the review embargo being pretty close to release date is uncharacteristic for the MCU. They usually like to set very early review embargoes to show confidence in their bigger films.

Wasn't aware of this. Might go if my Superhero Movie friend can go on the 6th.

Whilst I have little faith in overall opinions of the kind of people who veiw early screenings I do like the sound of it being "weirder", the character herself and the setting on earth really didn't seem very interesting so hopefully as much "cosmic" stuff as possible.

Honestly a lot of Marvel's success has I think been the shifting tone between films that's stopped audiences tiring of the franchise as a whole.

Update: February 19, 2019

CAPTAIN MARVEL Targeted By Negative Online Reviews Pre-Release

Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel won’t reach theaters until March 8 and hasn’t been screened for preview audiences yet, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t already have a lot of negative reviews online — but, as it turns out, what the haters are unhappy with is less the movie itself, and more the very fact that it exists.

The audience reviews for the movie on Rotten Tomatoes are currently being overrun by multiple accounts claiming to be “not interested” in it, even though they apparently have a lot to say about it. “Oh boy first off this will be worst than the last jedi im calling it now critcs [sic] will love it audience hate it,” writes “flash g.” An anonymous user adds, “Why Marvel decided to cast a very vocal racist and sexist aimed at white males, I'll never know. If Robert Downey Jr. started saying that he didn't care about the opinions of 40 year old white chicks and he doesn't want to be interviewed by a white woman as its not inclusive enough, people would lose their minds.”

This would appear to be a reference to star Brie Larson’s recent comments regarding the need for increased diversity amongst film critics and journalists, for those wondering. Or, as Jonathan B puts it, “Tired of all this SJW [Social Justice Warrior] nonsense.” Maybe “steve s” can help explain the argument against the movie, with his helpful comment, “Strong Wamen [sic] more Hollywood BS - no thanks.”

Such messages are, of course, not actually reviews of Captain Marvel the movie — that there’s no way any of these people have actually seen a movie that hasn’t been released yet is a clue, perhaps — but instead the very fact that Marvel is finally releasing a movie with a woman at the forefront, and that the actor playing the role has been outspoken about real world issues surrounding sexism, racism and ablism. In other words, it’s more of the same kind of attempts to derail progressive Marvel movies that saw faked accounts of assault by African-Americans at Black Panther screenings last year.

'Captain Marvel' Targeted By Negative Online Reviews Pre-Release

Imagine being so much of a worthless PoS that you take time out of your day to write bad reviews of a movie you haven't watched and claim to have no interest in watching.

Brie puts the HER in hero!

Noticed in one of the stills that her cat in the movie is named Goose, little homage to Top Gun I suppose
