I wonder if all the doubters prognosticating about how bad the movie will/could be realize they haven't seen the movie yet. This has been a fantastic run of movies/entertainment leading up to Endgame. I'm confident this movie will be continue to be a fun part of the nearly 20 movie ride.

Its pretty similar to when iron man was introduced.

Not alot of ppl thought iron man would be the great face of MCU or how successful MCU would be. Myself included. I didnt even care to be honest and thought it would be a generic one off.

Boy was I completely wrong

To be fare at the time they were just doing one offs without any sort of singular vision or direction by the Same people.

We couldn’t have seen. This then, it wasn’t the plan at the time anyway.

Hulk 2003
Directed by Ang Lee, Story by James Schamus staring Eric Bana

Iron man 2008, five years later Marvel studios first time for avi and Faverou for a marvel film, but hadn’t taken control yet by the Russo’s.

Incredible Hulk 2008, marvel studios
Directed by Louis Leitterier
Screen play by Zak Penn, however Norton was also tasked to rewrite Penns story to more closely match the tv series of the 70’s/80’s. And the comics of the same time.

Edward Nortan, this time a “reboot” to have Nortan continue on as hulk in avengers, but differences caused them to replace Norton.

It almost fell apart in the beginning before they even got it off the ground.

Iron man 2, 2010 was the first of the Fiege films, where we really start to see coherency.

Captain America didn’t come out till 2011, a fiege film the second fiege and it rolled on from there.

Saying you didn’t see all this at Iron Man 1 is fair, since they didn’t have thier shit together yet anyway and didn’t either imo.

I think one of Captain Marvel's problems is that it's going to be compared to a fantastic run of movies/entertainment leading up to Endgame. And it's going to be compared to them on a few levels. Ant-Man can kind of be low key, but there's a push for Captain Marvel to be a marquee character. So that will affect how people approach the movie.

After watching Iron Man I remember thinking how much better it was than Superman Returns.

Then you're not going to like the spoiler that Samuel L. Jackson dropped.
I'm trying to avoid spoilers but I think I did accidentally see it. I really hope it's not true because it would be an extremely cheap way to wrap it up and I am in the camp of people that can't stand the SJW woman are the best shit being forced down our throats like how they have with Star Wars.

After seeing her in interviews, I was warming up to Brie, but then I saw the TV spot and heard that "higher, further, faster" chant and...

Oof

I don't think people are upset regarding a SJW tone of Captain Marvel.

Instead, I think how Captain Marvel is being marketed as being so much stronger than the rest of the Avengers and how a character being introduced in the 21st chapter of a 22 chapter book is going to give the villain his justice as off putting.

Having Captain Marvel defeat Thanos would be like Agatha Christie introducing Inspector Poirot in the second to last chapter of one of her books.

Really ? ,I distinctly remembering the marketing being surprisingly good , even though the MCU wasn't a thing yet and they weren't under Disney yet. They Highlighted Downey Jr's Charisma and entertainment outlets sold it as a guy bouncing back from Rock Bottom because he had those legal issues in the years prior to this.

And giving Poirot the psychic ability to know who the perpetrator is just by twirling his mustache!

That costume wastes an opportunity to accentuate her large boobies.

I was speaking strictly being the face of Marvel franchise and or Marvel Cinematic Universe

It's not similar. Back then, the MCU didn't exist and the idea of a MCU was still a longshot so yea no one thought about that.

Now, the MCU has been successful and has had over 20 movies with varying success. We now have an idea how future MCU movies will fare based on past performances.

Exactly, no one thought RDJ would be this great face of MCU because the idea of it didnt exist, and even by the time they started putting MCU together, no one knew exactly how Iron Man would pan out the next 10 years.

Hell no one thought how well the MCU would do the next 10 years.

Sure we have past movies to based performances on, but we also could give it another 10 years before judging the next set of heroes and movies, since MCU does alot of character development and make improvements as they did with the originals.

Oh and I think it's great MCU now have past movies to based performances on. It only raises the bar and means to keep making better movies everytime

It's not like we waited until last year to judge the MCU. We've been judging it every step of the way and we'll judge it at every step for the next 10 years.

They will rework things based on how the fans receive each movie. I'm sure the approach for Thor 3 was heavily influenced by Thor 2 not doing well, critically. If something isn't working out after 1-2 movies, they aren't going to wait years down the line to address it. They'll have to do it soon after.
