Heard this from a few places now and though I am not surprised I am certainly disappointed. GB wants to milk GGG's leftovers while Golovkin faces some real threats. Figures.

From fightnews...

Negotiations are ongoing between the camps of WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and WBA/IBF/WBC interim champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Fightnews.com® has learned that one of the proposals being discussed is that both fighters agree to have at least two or three interim fights each before they clash. If both sides agree to it, Canelo’s next foe could be either David Lemieux or Curtis Stevens. GGG could face Daniel Jacobs. The reasoning for the additional time is to let the fight marinate and become bigger and bigger so the fighters (Canelo and GGG) can make the most money when they finally do meet. Stay tuned…

If the suggested fights happen then I'm all for that.

That's a much bigger fight if Canelo beat Lemieux and GGG beat Jacobs, that's a huge boost.

Think theyre full of shit.

I heard one more fight for Canelo is what they optimally wanted just the other day. So I imagine it'd be the same for Golovkin too since he won't want to just sit out and they'd be able to build this up more (not that it needs to).

This is ridiculous if true. That's another year for 3 fights, easy. By the time they square off Golovkin will be 39 going on 40.

Im sure Canelo said "lets do it now" or "mexicans dont fuck around" or something like that. Seems a bit lame to then fight GGGs scraps if true.

this fight is never happening, it looks like canelo wants father time to take some of gggs ability away before he fights him

if your ggg you better stand your ground and demand the fight now and take the title if canelo refuses

Pretty ridiculous. De La Hoya wants this to be on the level of Floyd/Pac but he doesn't seem to realize you can't do that without you know, Floyd or Pac. Plus throughout this era it has very often gone horribly wrong when trying to build superfights by making both guys fight other people.

Funny how Canelo who can't fight at 160 seems willing to fight at least a couple guys at 160 now who aren't GGG and how Golovkin is supposed to fight a guy who is done fighting at 160 altogether.

I dont mind, I guess, that he wants to fight a 160 pounder or two first. BUT why come out and try to look like a tough guy and say, what we now know, was alot of bullshit in the ring. Seems like a lame ass move to me.

That would be one fight a piece, and would be awesome. I would like to see those fights, and have the winners fight and the losers fight (unless GGG and Lemieux both lose, then only match the winners).

Having 3 fights is too many. That is a year and a half of stalling.

This. I'd stand firm and say they've got until the 24th to agree to fight next, since Golovkin is his mandatory (currently interim champ) and the WBC needs to enforce this.

Fight at 160 and defend your belt against the interim champion or get stripped. Marinating time is over. Canelo is coming off of a highlight reel knockout of Khan and Golovkin is coming off consecutive knockout number 22 which was against his mandatory. This will never be May-Pac and they know it. Biding time for Canelo is all they're trying to do here and hoping that Golovkin loses or slows down. They know what their golden duck is up against. Can't let that cash cow go to slaughter just yet, just a little more milk. Then some more after that. We know this routine, same song and dance.

GGG isn't any spring chicken. I think that's too long to reasonably make him wait. Then again Canelo's camp has the power here so they can do what they want. Canelo doesn't give a shit but his team seems to want this to wait too long imo. However I would love to see Canelo/Lemieux and GGG/Jacobs but those are tough fighters that could potentially upset one of the most anticipated fights in the sport atm.

From GGG's IG.

Canelo, you heard the man. Give him his belt!

Canelo isn't getting past Lemieux.
Canelo would beat the brakes off of Lemi. Hed get taken to school just like Golovkin did to him.

Did anyone actually read what was posted or the article on the shitty site?

lol that anyone thinks Lemieux beats Canelo.

Three fights would be wholly unnecessary and ridiculous. One fight for each against legitimate MWs is fine (and could also eventually make the fight for the undisputed as well as lineal MW championship).

There is no way this fight WOULDNT happen in Cinco de Mayo. They are going to have at least 1 fight each before next Cinco de Mayo

I'm not surprised. The fight isn't going to happen at all in my opinion. Every time Canelo talks about wanting the fight is all for show. He could sign the contract for 160 if he truly wanted GGG. He's going to get stripped of his belt, as he should.
