That would be because combat Sambo differs from regular Sambo rules.

We had a blast up there in Montreal. There were some real great bouts. This was our second annual event. The event had 13 great bouts. Many more athletes than last year too.

We do practice chokes, the style is much more than the sport sambo rules. Historically combat sambo (the parent of sport sambo) has chokes and strikes.

Nice.

Its funny tho, initially I think not so flamboyant as mma in HL aspect but then I realize that it is sambo practitioner vs sambo practitioner and makes me think its pretty damn sweet. I mean, I picture other stylists in there with gi vs them and I think I could see some bomblasting HLs.

Get us some clubs in Ontario.

Actually, 3 of the 6 clubs there were not sambo clubs, but they had to wear the sambo jacket, shorts, and shoes. Our game, our rules They were judo and JuJitsu clubs I believe.

Still, everyone there was so humble and ego-less that I felt like it was all sambo guys fighting. I have never seen the attitude at sambo events that I see at other grappling and fight shows.
