I'm curious what Jordan Peterson has to say about these protests.

His position on protesting has always been that it's a pointless activity, I wonder if that will hold true when it's a cause he believes in and is so important to his base.

I guess I should have looked it up first.

However, it's only "effective" and relatively nonviolent because the police and the government are allowing it to continue. They could shut it down in a few hours if they were willing to risk the lives of police officers and protestors.

Nobody wants it to escalate into a full-blown riot, so it's just been bubbling for days. For everyone who doesn't actually live in Centretown, it's relatively easy to ignore. For the 23000 people who live in my neighborhood, it's torture.

I was just trying to be funny. I would hope nobody loses friends, irl or otherwise, over this issue.

I’m supportive of removing mandatory vaccines for the truckers. That’s where my support of this convoy begins and ends.

I don’t believe they should occupy Ottawa or anything like that. They had their big day of protest on Saturday, good for them, they should move on now before they lose any remaining goodwill they have and before anything more happens that could overshadow their message and put them in a situation where even Kenney et al. are forced to condemn them.

I do not support people dancing on the grave of the unknown soldier.

I do not support anyone fucking with Terry Fox’s statue.

I do not support anyone spreading messages of hate.

I do not support anyone carrying Nazi flags around the parliament grounds, even if they’re trying to suggest that Trudeau is the Nazi, because I don’t believe Godwin’s Law is a thing anyone should practice.

I am very sympathetic to the ordinary citizens of Ottawa (including you) who have had their lives severely disrupted by this protest. My family has deep roots to Ottawa as my great-great-great-great-great grandfather settled in Manotick in the 1820s. My dad was born and raised in Nepean and he’s Ottawa U alumni and my mom is Carleton alumni. My granny’s younger brother (RIP to them both) was mayor of Ottawa in the early 1970s, and my Dad’s younger brother still lives in Kanata to this day.

I haven't lost any real friends yet, IRL, but I have lost respect for a few people I liked. All of my real friends see this for what it is.
