He's one of my best friends on Sherdog and he's just playing devil's advocate. He wasn't supporting the protest so much as he was commenting on it's effectiveness.

However, it's only "effective" and relatively nonviolent because the police and the government are allowing it to continue. They could shut it down in a few hours if they were willing to risk the lives of police officers and protestors.

Nobody wants it to escalate into a full-blown riot, so it's just been bubbling for days. For everyone who doesn't actually live in Centretown, it's relatively easy to ignore. For the 23000 people who live in my neighborhood, it's torture.
