We’re living in a world right now in which our demand is greater than our output. That’s why, imo, the cost of living is going up so much.
If you have a small percentage of truckers who transport internationally, you may rely on them for specific imports or exports. When you limit that specific subset of the workforce, certain business may suffer and the cost of products being transported will go up as the companies relying on them try to stay alive.
Im not saying that proper precautions shouldn’t be taken. By all means, make them wear masks. That, I think most people wouldn’t quit their job over. But mandating vaccinations when it’s become the politically charged topic we have right now doesn’t create a win for anyone. The people who don’t want to get vaxxed, as you can see, still won’t. And I honestly believe the difference made by limiting this specific group that seems to be so small has to be so minor. I really can’t imagine that if all things THIS is the hill to die on. Truckers are crucial to the economy. They might be the single most important cog in the economic chain and it’s not like a Walmart cashier, you can’t easily replace them with automation.
