There are 6 times more people who are fully vaxxed (2 or 2 + booster) than not fully vaxxed or no vax in Manitoba. There are only 4 times the amount of fully vaxxed with covid compared to not fully vaxxed. If Manitoba follows the same as other places really old people and people who are immunocompromised have a higher percentage of people vaxxed than in general population. These people are more likely to not have a strong enough immune response to benefit from the vax making those percentages even more in favour of the effectiveness of the vax in the general population.

My first reply was in regards to the vax preventing transmission - I even commented later about the vax preventing serious illness and death

I am talking transmission - because of the record high cases EVERYWHERE
From the MB GOV the number of cases is an exact 1:1 ratio unvaxxed to vaxxed
It is literally right there on the website ... this is it verbatim: "People who are NOT fully vaccinated are 1x more likely to test positive with COVID-19"

That's a lot of "breakthrough" cases ... and I know a lot of double/triple vaxxed people under 40 that were infected

So call me crazy (well you kinda already have) ... but based off this info, and the info we're seeing elsewhere with record cases within a highly vaccinated population...and comments from our saviour, the one and only Pfizer CEO whatshisname .... this is my official position:

If the vax stopped any significant transmission the case numbers wouldn't be anywhere near 1:1

The vaccine imposition is on the U.S side. Truckers need to show proof of vaccination to enter the U.S. I agree that the virus is already circulating plentiful in both our countries and the measure is redundant, but as the original intention of the convoy was to remove the vaccine mandate for their work, it's pressure that should be made on the U.S government, not on Canada.

This ballooned from its original intent of a protest against vaccine mandates on truckers to demanding all covid restrictions be lifted. Now, I know where you sit on this spectrum of debate so I don't think it would be constructive to examine each measure, analyze for inconsistencies and redunancies, and point out all the flaws. The spirit of the measures was always about slowing down transmissibility to reduce strain on our health care systems as much as possible. Our hospitals in Canada, and especially Quebec, are/were under a lot of strain. I now blame the government of the past 30 years for this from poor contingency planning, misallcation of resources, and bad policy. But that doesn't take care of the issue short term.

This convoy is a hemorrhoid on an already battered asshole. I'm all for reopening all non-essential businesses, but masks and social distancing are not too much to ask for until this pandemic reaches its end. I'm tired of it like everyone else is, but I happened to work in a hospital during the majority of the pandemic and I saw first hand the damage it did to the entire system and the health care workers. Mobilizing a mass of people to take over parliament hill, entire neighborhoods, torturing them with constant yelling and honking... I mean.... it's like the saying "You think you're helping, but you're not". Now the supply chain system is being hit and the last thing we need is people fighting over toilet paper again. I am originally from Ottawa (or town right next to it) and I have many friends and family still there. The convoy blocked all major arteries restricting free travel. It's enough. Many protests have been dismantled for far less. If they plan on doing this again next weekend, I'm all for blocking them before they enter the city.

Its definitely implied....otherwise why would anyone fight so hard for it. Somewhere along the way this got politicized and thats when common sense flew out the window. Every year we change the flu vaccine. There have been multiple strains of Covid....same vaccine. We saw Omicron get everyone equally, vaxxed and non vaxxed...same vaccine. We grew up in a time where Vaccines take clinical trials and rigid testing to make sure it is safe, often taking at least 10 years. But here people are supposed to blindly trust a vaccine that took mere months to develop. Side effects are never given press and often pushed aside as small numbers....but there are chat groups all over the internet of people with the same vax side effects that doctors are not reporting as side effects-Hearing loss groups, heart groups, vertigo groups, blood pressure, liver on and on. We know hospitals were claiming every death was covid no matter the cause...even people on death beds. They are incentivized for it. We were lied to about Mask efficacy, China's involvement, and vax efficacy, and yet people still throw away common sense and attack anyone that does not agree--Look at Rogan....Common sense tells me that through History people do vile things for Money. And I feel this is one of them.

they are taking shifts. Some sleep during the day and continue at night. Many residents have taken to twitter to complain. My friends and family are confirming that's what's happening.

I say it is. I say blocking roads is crossing the line from protest to illegal. I also believe Trudy bears the responsibility to handle it. He called them all sorts of names and incited this. It is his job to handle it. A small group of people can cause a lot of damage but you may question the judgement. A group this large, you need to rethink the way you speak and handle things. If one guy hates your boss, its probably the guy. If 70% of the company does, its probably the boss.

There's actually a really simple answer to this question.

In a study, what you're supposed to do, is give one group of people the medication, and another group of people placebos. People don't get to choose what group they're in, and they're not told what group they're in. And then you study their outcomes over the long term. And then you can figure out whether the medication actually did something good or not by comparing the outcomes between these two groups.


Guess what? They aren't doing that for these vaccines. All of the people who got placebos in the studies have been told they were in the placebo group, are being encouraged to get vaccinated, and I presume are treated as "unvaccinated" by government unless they get the vaccine. In doing so, they have therefore intentionally destroyed the long term safety data of the vaccines.

The reason why Pfizer, Moderna, J&J and Astrazeneca are doing so well is because they came up with the best solution to this pandemic. Governments need a functioning and healthy populace for a healthy and functioning economy, so it's in their best interest to govern well during a crisis. This was Trump's downfall. Your logic is so flawed it doesn't take much to dismantle.
