Can your eyes recognize that these three shots all landed?

They all completely missed, was like Sonnys punch in The Godfather.

LOL working this hard to defend your hype job. Carry on.

I can't remember Silva with a swollen eye before. Dude was getting peppered with punches. He tried that Matrix shit but that matrix shit wasn't working.

Anderson definitely got hit, but he also rolled with those punches.

we clearly saw what happens when Anderson gets hit with a clean punch he doesn't see when Adesanya buzzed him in the 1st rd with a short right hook.

that's the nuance of boxing defense, he got hit, but he rolled most of those punches rather easily because he saw the punches coming and he was standing still.

when Anderson actually got buzzed he was moving forward and the punch came from the side while he was looking directly in front of him trying to avoid the knee.

i think he got poked but not directly in his eye, that's what caused the swelling. most of Adesanya's punches hit him in the jaw not in the temple/eye area.

also, his matrix shit definitely worked because he didn't get knocked out and he stood directly in front of Adesanya.

it's his offense that is lacking, not his defense. like i said before the fight, Anderson still has the skill, he just doesn't have the physical attributes because he's an old man.

It’s the second one that I have trouble seeing...but yeah first and backfist def hit

This is no Forrest griffin moment

Edit. Nm just took me a few more views 2nd clearly lands...in fact if it was a miss I don’t think he would have been able to follow up with the backfist

Forrest was slow. Doing this against Israel Adesanya is still impressive, especially when you see one of the other GOATs, Fedor, getting KO'd by wrestlers, with telegraphed shots, at around the same age.

In several threads this gif has been posted with comments/titles suggesting the three strikes missed ("OMG, ANDY IN MATRIX MODE AGAIN!!!"), when in reality all three of them landed.

It's in danger of becoming Sherdog's version of the "Yanny or Laurel?" or "Is this dress blue or gold?" memes of recent times.

It's understandable some have become overexcited at this gif, because if you just glance at the sequence (while wearing rose-coloured glasses) it looks like Andy eluded each of the three punches.
  1. The jab connecting is somewhat difficult to clock, since Andy rolls with it fairly well, but once you know what you're looking at you can clearly see it connect with Andy's right eyebrow and knock his head back as Andy's stepping forward.
  2. The easiest one to clock is the right cross, which, although glancing, clearly knocks Andy's head back to the left (with a slight rotation) as Andy begins to bring it forward again after the first strike knocked him back. The illusion is that Andy jerked his head back to make it miss. The truth is what jerked his head was the strike hitting it. Again though, Andy does see it coming and rolls with it, taking some of the sting out of the glancing shot.
  3. The third strike looks to the uninitiated like a double-pumped second cross that whiffs past Andy's ear, when in fact anyone who understands the game can clearly see it's a backfist that connects with Andy's ear. Contrary to this being a "Matrix-like" move, Andy actually moves his head into this shot rather than eludes it. Fortunately there's no juice on the backfist, and Andy lives to fight another day.
Obviously, even though he did get hit a bunch in every round by Izzy, this is still an impressive performance from Andy. He still dealt with Adesanya's striking better than any UFC opponent yet, and did an amazing job to reach the end of the 3rd at 43, after his extended break, against the craftiest striker in the division. It's just that it's not the Old Skool Matrix Andy some Shergoofs are fooling themselves into believing it was.

Or if it was, then Izzy is in the Matrix too, because he hit Andy with each of these 3 shots.

He rolled those shots they didn't land they way they were intended. Andy went matrix mode and made him miss enough they were in effective. Nice try though man

They hit... The replay angle showed it but andy was fine taking them and did take away alot of the power of those shots through head movement but he was hit anyone saying differently is just trying to add the legend of anderson silva falsely

Both were in friendly sparring mode.
Israel throwing half-heartedly, more speed than power.
Andy eating those pulled punches and acting like he was Neo.
The guys had a nice sparring match with no actual danger, got paid, got FOTN and walked away happy.
100%
And for some strange reason I was fine with that.

I've been hit harder by a fly whilst riding a bicycle, he dodged them beautifully.

They weren't the hardest shots but they landed.

MLjHA5q.jpg

Mate thats a completely different combo where he decided to go one level higher in the Matrix and stop the punches with his face instead of dodging them. Just like Neo did with bullets.

Why does Israel give up and reset at the end of this combination? Silva is not firing back, he's not trying to counter. He's standing there like a dork with his hands down. Take another step forward and fucking clock him like Weidman.

Such a shitty and frustrating fight.

Ummmm I’m happy. This is the big sportch

Then skinny Israel needs to put on 10 pounds of muscle cause he needs something more behind those punches.

The second connected.

Anderson moved his face with the first, so it only touched. The third was a slap....

No need to write so much for something so visually obvious.

Also, if the three connected hard, it'd only mean Silva has a chin from hell. It's not the case.

God, you are a horrible poster. Look at the image.

The second punch in the sequence landed clean.

Why do you always post nonsense?
