I have always been told that power is kind of something you have. Some guys are just naturally heavy hitters, even if the technique is not there.

BIsping always was a pillow fist. However, on Anderson's fight, He dropped Silva two times. I was impressed, but then realized Anderson is almost retiring, 40 years old, and fucked after Weidman.

Then we Have bisping KNOCKING the FUCK OUT of Rockhold. WOW. That was impressive.

I guess you can learn "power", because Bisping is on fire lately.

He never had pillow fists, the guy has 16 T/KOs. He doesn't have one punch power but he knows how to hit hard and hurt people with his hands.

No, Silva's chin was just gone and Rockhold was arrogant and got caught with a shot he didn't see.

You can learn better technique but you can't learn power per se. Bisping has become more accurate and timing has improved. The shot he landed in Rockhold caught Luke by surprise. With these 4oz gloves, it doesn't take much to put someone out.

You can develop more power but not enough for it to matter. It's something you're born with.

It doesn't need to be that powerful if you hit them in the right spot at the right time. He caught him perfectly on the jaw.

And a punch is far more devastating if you don't see it coming.

Power = Mass x Velocity.

If you can increase your mass or can improve the velocity of your punch then Obviously you can generate more power than you were able too.

every pro fighter can punch hard

if its right on the chin and the opponent doesn't see it coming, its lights out

Hes planting his feet more and transferring weight more cleanly. Same with Dominick who has pillows for fists but has dropped Takeya and Faber now since he came back.

Top boxing coaches like Freddie Roach tend to go with the "a puncher is born, not made" theory, but some fighters don't show it at first. Thomas Hearns was not known as a puncher when he was an amateur (I think he had like 12 stoppage wins in 158 fights, and that was before they started using Top Ten / Bayflex type padding in the gloves + headgear), but as a pro under Emanuel Steward he became an absolute fucking monster, even as a relatively lanky guy (6'1"+ guy fighting at 147 pounds for a significant part of his career). They really worked to develop that punching power, and no one would argue that they didn't succeed. So I think it can be done. And with MMA fights being as chaotic as they really are (compared to boxing) with so many more openings, in addition to the fact that they're wearing 4 oz gloves, most guys can probably develop knockout power, at least in the heavier weight divisions.

That said, Luke may not have that much of a chin on him. Not surprising for a pretty boy.

Also, it's not a coincidence that he scored a clean KO with his left hand. Bisping is naturally left handed, but he fights orthodox.

precision can be much better than power... a chin doesn't need too much power

Anyone saying you can only be born with it doesn't understand punching mechanics. Notice how he's clearly putting more behind his punches nowadays vs when he was a volume puncher trying to overwhelm you

We are talking about a 200+ lbs professional MMA fighter. He's gonna hurt you if he hits you clean, even if he's known as "pillow fisted".

Can't learn power bla bla bla.

Do weight training and hire a strength and conditioning coach.

Power will definitely increase.

Very very few people in shape dont have enough power to knock someone out.

Its about timing, setting up the shot, being willing to plant your foot to get power, ect.

Bisping is harvesting the fruits of experience against top fighters, and his ever rising confidence after beating top fighters, that let him get the KOs against ufc fightets.

Bisping was already a ko machine before going to the ufc. Took a while before he got there against the better level of fighters there is in the ufc.

Has McGregor taught you people nothing, precision beats power and timing beats speed.

This.... Do you think with Andersons build/size he could drop LHW's with solid chins like he did in his prime? It wasn't power... It was sheer speed, accuracy and timing.

When did Bisping start using Jason Parillo as his striking coach? I'm just curious.
