Can you drink anything besides water while fighting ?

TS really asking if Machida has clearance to do the bubbler in between rounds

If that were entirely true, then why continue drinking it during camp when it doesn’t necessarily help?
Probably since a sip of a monster or two wouldn't even help a fighter that much since it would only have miniscule amounts of caffeine (and possibly) sugar in those sips.

Terry Martin had to get a dr clearance not only his personal doctor but also with the AC dr. He had to write Terry the script and then the ufc dr had to pick up the inhaler and keep it in his custody until Terry walked out to the cage

My point is, I’m sure sports drinks and even caffeinated drinks have to add something beneficial otherwise they wouldn’t bother at all.

Yes, it tastes better than plain water, but man, after hard training, electrolytes help me push through and allows for less recovery time, IMO. I guess that’s why boxing, at least from what I know, only allows water.

I don’t think so, but if you win your fight and want to take fake sips of unopened cans of Monster, boy are you in luck

Caffeine drinks are not allowed but they can drink other drinks (at least in Nevada)

"An unarmed combatant may consume electrolyte drinks, including, without limitation, GatoradeTM, PowerAdeTM, smartWaterTM and PropelTM, decaffeinated coffee, decaffeinated tea or decaffeinated soft drinks on the day of or during a bout."

Sipping on a bottle of Coke would be sweet.

I think he does have a prescription for it but it was not cleared by the AC. If I remember right they had no idea he had it.

i think you are correct, i remember threads about the ac after the fight saying they had no idea his team had it with him.
Was just reading up in it. He claimed they asked the commissioner cage side if he could use it and got approval from him. Haven’t found if that’s been confirmed yet.

Funny quote from Dana at the end of the article for this thread: “It’s pretty simple. You can drink water. In some states Gatorade.”

Cheers buds.

Gah I hate not being able to edit posts on dubs. It’s so annoying.

It's a UFC endorsed product as one of their sponsors so chug away!

He did ask and get the okay for it, but the person did not have the authority to make that decision.
