Can we universally say that the 4th round of the Overeem/Sakai fight is a 10-8 round?

Has scoring evolved that we can agree on this? Or is Frankie vs Maynard 2 rounds 1 still the standard for a 10-8 round?

Until 1,2, and 5 is acknowledged, I will not universally agree to anything!

absolutely not - it was a solid 10-9

sakai was winning prior to the TD and landed some damaging elbows and reem did not do enough damage to threaten a finish

I agree. and so does derrick lewis

IIRC the rules say that where there is major impact in a round that gets close to a finish, the judges should consider giving a 10-8 score. However, they don't say judges must give a 10-8 score in this scenario.

Prior to the takedown the round was fairly even with Sakai probably ahead.

I think either a 10-9 or a 10-8 is defensible here.

I thought it was maaaaaaybe 10-8, but who cares? It was a good fight & Reem won.

Scored it 10-9.

I scored Edgar Maynard II round 1 as one of the few 10-7's I've ever given out.

Yes that was a hellacious beatdown
