I can't believe I even have to say this but what Conor is saying here is that he will take on any and all comers regardless of size, he's not saying he can beat anyone of any size, he said BEFORE the fight there were questions on how he would deal with the size and reach and he was looking forward to answering them, he couldn't. That doesn't make him a hypocrite, he was stating he would accept all challenges as a martial artist does not worry about the size of the opponent, he's not saying he would dethrone them 100% he's saying he will accept the challenge as he is a martial artist and believes in himself. Or is it me completely missing the ball?

This is a excuse mate, the reason he lost was that Nate was the better fighter.

Of course if you go into details the reach made a difference, but he can't complain, because this excuse goes for everyone that lost to him. The 1-2 combo he got rocked was very similar to the one he finishef Chad. Chad thought he was safe from that distance, so did Conor.

McGregor is selling Diaz short by claiming that it was just his toughness that won. Diaz rolled with most of what Conor landed, and he managed the distance much better than Conor. Conor whiffed constantly in the first round, with stupid kicks, uppercuts, and hooks that missed the mark, because he struggled to manage the distance between himself and a taller fighter that is used to fighting long. Missing with big power shots wears you out fast.
Diaz outworked Conor, and finished him, and yes "derp, he was just too tough," is basically denying that it was Diaz' skillset that beat McGregor.

I agree that Diaz outclassed him on the feet and on the ground, and I think Conor will get KO'd even faster next time they meet, but I still don't see that as an excuse.

That was just him reflecting on what he did wrong and what he could've done better.

he's always been gracious in victory, and now he's gracious in defeat. thats fine, good on him. but really what else can he do? he shit talked nate, called him predictable, slow, soft and said he'd KO him in 1 round. he didnt get the KO, nate didnt drop, instead he got choked out in less than two rounds and very nearly got knocked out. he looked past nate and said he was going take every belt. he had himself beating lawler. he didnt make it past nate with no training camp. he was gracious true, and humble, but that because he was humbled.
for the first time he didnt back up his talk. of course people are glad he lost, he basically told every other fighter near him they were bums and not in his league. thats what happens.

back to FW for him. i'm sure he'll be making another run at LW soon. thats his natural weight class. at least now he knows, the left no one can handle in FW, gets ate by bigger guys. he needs to change his game plan.

It's an excuse because it's not the reason Diaz beat him.
Diaz didn't beat Conor because Conor focused on power shots, Diaz beat Conor because Conor isn't good enough at this point in his career to beat Nate Diaz.

Other than landing a KO early, what could Conor have done to beat Diaz? Try to outwork him for a few rounds, and finish the fight late? Decision?
The longer that fight went on, the more it favoured Diaz. Conor's best chance to win was an early KO, which is why that's what he was hunting for.

No other gameplan is likely to have won that fight, and so blaming the loss on a bad gameplan is a bad excuse.
