If all of my reality/existence is a computer simulation, including this moment where I believe I exist and am creating a thread on a forum called Sherdog, is there any way to prove it is not ?

Every response to this thread could be a false reality, or at best a creation of my mind.

The explanation I'v heard in the past would be that it would actually take more matter/energy than exists in the universe to run a totally realistic simulation of the universe. Therefor the way to know whether were in a simulation or not is to look for "cut corners" in terms of reality, probably at the subatomic level.

If you are beginning to believe that the reality you are living in is like the Matrix, are there agents stalking you right now?

I'm not a creation of your mind. You must be out of your mind to even suggest that.

Is the matirx telling me that your gay?

In reality we're all just keanu reeves living in his world.

It can’t be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, no. I can’t imagine an understanding of proof that would let you 100% confirm or deny the assertion.

But the reason no one gives a shit about the claim in various academic fields that would is because existence as a real, embodied thing makes more sense without reference to something like the matrix. It’s 100% verifiable, but it’s a consistent interpretation of the world, one that most cultures have assumes for thousands of years.

I won’t let students write on the matrix in my philosophy 101 course. It’s been done to death, and the internet needs to shut up about it

i dunno, ive had a shit load of red mitsubishi and blue bmw pills before and i never experienced anything like the matrix. dont get me wrong, i was off my chops, but just not in the matrix.

I look at it like religion, who gives a shit. You can't change it, probably can't comprehend at it's deepest levels if true and you have about as much influence over it as a microscopic organism has over influencing your decisions.

Nobody exists on purpose, nobody is here for a reason, we're all gonna die, come watch some tv

Can't we create our own purpose and reason? And isn't just sitting down and watching tv submitting to other people's purpose and reason?

are you really creating your own purpose and reason? or are you just following a programed pattern under the guise of self determination? Did you chose to post a reply to me, or were you predetermined to? Look at the situation with Facebook, people willfully gave their information then want to act indignant that that information was used to predict their predispositions, not taking any accountability for their actions. Yet want to cry about lack of privacy. I wonder if it isn't so much the "betrayal" over the sharing of their information as much as their fear over the fact that by their patterns, preferences and answers to some "random" questions the pattern of their whole lives has basically been deciphered.

Regardless, the last line was from an episode of Rick and Morty where Morty explains to his sister how it doesn't matter that in other realities their parents had an abortion instead of having her and they both had "successful, interesting" lives, because he eats breakfast less than 200 feet from his own rotting corpse he buried when he took the place of that realities Morty that died in an explosion.

THe "come watch television" thing is basically a metaphor just go with the flow.

You can't prove that anything is NOT real.

You can only prove that things are real. That's why the burden of proof is always on the person trying to prove something is real.

But of course lots of people think things are possible just because you can't prove they're not real.

Bigfoot
Ghosts
God

Heck, I could claim that there's a giant penis that floats through space and can only be seen by the pure of heart. And you can't prove it doesn't exist, therefore, you have to accept that it's possible. See how dumb that sounds?

You can't prove any philosophy about the nature of existence to be real or false.

If we are all computer simulation, who ever is watching must really like watching people poop.
