I understand there's a venue fee and a payperview, but really would rather wait till 200 for cormier/jones than pay $59.99 to waste an evening watching jj walk through blowsp

I mean I'll still watch it because I'm a dork with no life but seriously, can we postpone a potentially amazing match up instead of forcing some ridiculous stand in? with the frequency of injuries in training these days, we have to come up with a better back up plan then just throwing glass joe in the ring. sometimes there are upsets but by and large these fights are washes. think about how long it took for conor/jose to happen -- by the time of the fight the momentum was used up.

i don't want to see that happen with what is undoubtedly the best rivalry in mixed martial arts right now. the way it's done the fight is gonna happen during trillary's 2nd term in office.

I'm not sure there is a good solution to training injuries. Perhaps severe fines forcing the fighters to be more cautious leading up to events? I don't know. One of you guys in the gallery usually has a approach I haven't considered.

Thoughts on how to avoid spoiling pay per views? Or do you all think JJ/OSP will be amazing.

Easy, stop putting fights on PPV.

I prefer fights happen sooner if fighters are willing to fight. Jones will likely still want to fight on 200 because of the payday. If they decided to not put JBJ/OSP together, instead postponing JBJ/DC till 200, then they're running the risk of another injury happening in the next 3 months, delaying things further. If fighters are willing and able to fight, then they should. I'm still hyped to see this fight at 197. I appreciate every time I get to see Jones fight.

Postponing isn't fair on the fighter who isn't injured. He/She has trained for a fight (and a payday) so why should they have to wait another 3+ months for either?

No i dont want post posponment, I want to watch fighters fight, what if the other guy gets imjured next time etc. Other fighters should be on stand by thats a much better idea.

For me it depends how long the injured fighter will be out. If it's a 4 week injury then I'm all for a postponement, but if it's longer then a replacement is fine.

Your plans are spoiled when OSP exposes on Jones

Well then, use a VPN and only pay $20 for the PPV instead

I don't like punishing the guys that actually don't get hurt and are ready to fight. It's just costing them money, in most cases, to sit idle waiting for someone to heal.

I have a zen-like perspective on things.

First we must recognize that shit happens, i.e., fighters get injured, etc.

Second we must learn to appreciate what's available out there. For example, no Khabib vs Cerrone? That's suck. But oh, Khabib VS what's-his-name instead? Well, it aint's so grand, but hey, look on the up side, Khabib could use a tune up fight after the long lay off, and there's always a chance of an upset.

Third, just sit back and enjoy what's on TV. It's a fight.

And then, in the morning the sun will still rise...

There are just too many damn injuries. I honestly don't even get excited for fights anymore until the day before

Not if people are still paying. This was the best of a horrible situation. This ppv went from one I was ordering to a rewatch at a later time. I'll read results and obviously of Jones is upset or Mm is upset I'll watch instantly. Otherwise I'll just catch it when I catch it.

What about the money time and effort fighters put in getting ready to fight?

'I mean I'll still watch it because I'm a dork with no life but seriously, '

its funny how you pin your willingness to watch / not watch a fight to the fact that you're not a loser etc - hopefully you can keep being cool, if you miss a card and people find out, you might actually be a dork, and you're fcked

Yes, that's the only issue.
They just busted their ass through training camp and spent a lot of money on it all, so they need to fight to get paid...

Made it as far as blowsp. Realized TS was likely 13 yrs old. Decided to postpone reading the rest of the thread...indefinitely.
