Can we get some appreciation for a great journeyman? Right up there with Lytle, Cerrone, etc...

35-19 with 20 finishes, finished 12 times, always giving the crowd a great time and a real fight. 16 years of competing so far.

Notable Wins:

• Nate Diaz
• BJ Penn (2019)
• Lauzon
• Pettis
• Gomi
• RDA
• Thomson

Notable losses (murderers row):
• Benson Henderson
• Diego Sanchez
• Din Thomas
• Tyson Griffin
• KenFlo
• Huerta
• Oliveira
• Gray Maynard
• Chad Mendes
• Gilbert Melendez
• Jim Miller
• Ortega

This dude is 38 and his list of dudes he's fought makes him look at least 48. He's stepped in the cage with nearly 20 absolute killers.

WAR THE FIRST EVER STRIKEFORCE LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION CLAY "THE CARPENTER" GUIDA!!!!!!!!!! WAR TARZAN!!!!!!!!

Guide is a pioneer of the lightweight division and one of the most important fighters in ufc history, fight me

Good fighter and respect to him but Clay Guida was only exciting when he was getting his ass kicked

I loved it when he beat Nate. That would be my favourite Guida moment. One of my all time favourite fighters.

I agree. Griffin, Huerta, Sanchez, and Benson were some of his most memorable fights and he lost all of them. Also Kenny's finish on him was really exciting.

Never really liked him. But did prove that UFC is so easy even a caveman can do it.

He deserves even more respect then. Entertained us the most when he was getting thumped. Put his body on the line for you and me brother!

His fight with Tyson Griffin is my favorite of his, either that or Huerta. He had a killer run in 2010-2011, when he beat RDA, Gomi, and Pettis IN A ROW. He should also get props for dominating Josh Thomson in a 5 round fight in Strikeforce prior to his UFC tenure. I know his fight with Giblert was a SD but that was almost a travesty of a decision, Gil clearly won that one.

Clay has fought insanely tough competition and racked up a handful of high profile wins. Can't hate at all. If it were me I would be more than happy with an MMA career of that level

Its amazing that in 2016 at ufc199 (imo coolest card ever) he was beating Ortega solidly before he didn't.

His fights with Sanchez and Huerta were fantastic.

had alot of stupid fights too though where he just hopped around more than fought.

i have a lot of respect for Guida as a fighter.

but as a Penn fan i'm obligated to say prime Penn crushes him.

Theres only one Carpenter that Sherdog posters need to appreciate and his name isnt Clay
