Can we finally agree that LHW's are HW's who are afraid to fight the best?

Cormier just weighed in at 246, heavier than Stipe's 242. Jones has admitted that he walks around at 235+, and he never balloons up in weight. Rampage recently fought at 246 and looked normal, not fat, with visible abs. Even Chael, a MW, weighed in over 220.

None of these guys are significantly smaller than Stipe, Fedor, Cain, etc. Hell, I think most of them are bigger than Cain and Fedor. They're bigger, frame-wise, than Roy Nelson for sure.

Yeah, there are actual monsters like pre-diverticulitis Brock and Bigfoot, but for the most part the elite fighters at LHW and HW are all about the same size.

The point is that HW is not shallow. It's just not populated by the right fighters. Raise the HW limit, put in a SHW division, and/or drop the LHW limit, because right now it's just two divisions that can each house 80%+ of the same fighters.

I agree with the OP. There is no need for a 205 division. If you can't hit 185, you should have to fight at heavyweight. Also, heavyweight should be unlimited weight. The 265 cap is idiotic.

You gotta look at frame though. Some fighters carry more fat when they are out of camp. If Frankie Edgar would have a 25 lbs beer gut in between fights, does that mean he is ducking welterweight or does it just mean he's a lightweight that gets really out of shape after a fight.
