That no matter who you scored the fight for, the guy that took the ass whooping was Whittaker by a mile?

Round by round scoring might have to go.

If Romero made weight then this would be a bigger out cry imo even if he won hes not winning the belt so it honestly doesnt really matter

What a lot of you don't realize is if round scoring goes away fighters would change with that also. It doesn't necessarily mean Yoel would have won the fight since Whittaker would have a different strategy.

This talk is all nonsense anyways cause as soon as your favoured fighter loses then the system is all wrong.

I know it's the rules, but it's pretty shitty when everyone pretends that the .2 even made any difference at all.

I disagree.
Romero landed the harder shots overall and dropped Whittaker a couple times, but Whittaker busted Romero up as well.
It was a hard fought fight by both guys. I think it should have been a draw, but Whittaker deserves more respect than he’s getting for doing what he did with a broken hand.

Who's going to be limping around with a swollen eye next week?

Round by round scoring might have to go.

Why? Romero hit Whittaker with two bombs. That's literally all he did. He couldn't even close the deal, his wrestling and ground and pound looked really bad after the bombs were dropped. He has a good chin and really good power. I don't understand how that is more impressive than the way Whittaker completely nullified Romero for the first two rounds. It's a sport, technique and effectiveness should be a part of the scoring.

Let me parse something else. If you're going to give Romero a 10-8 for round 5, why can't Whittaker get a 10-8 for round 1? So the damage wasn't the same, Whittaker swarmed him and didn't allow Romero to throw more than like 3 strikes, only 1 or 2 of which actually hit (but not effectively).
