To be fair, the way I normally see the argument framed regarding Colby's resume isn't so much that he is some kind of paper contender who got to where he is without having to fight guys who were relevant at the time, but rather that he's incredibly inactive. As a result his resume hasn't held up well over time because he hasn't "refreshed it" by beating any modern, particularly relevant Top 5 or even Top 10 guys in quite a while yet still for the longest time had a narrative built around him as "Uncrowned 170 King in a world where Usman didn't exist".

I can see arguments in both directions for what it's worth. I just think it's important that people don't argue past one another on this point.
