I personally like all aspects of MMA, but it's an objective fact that most people enjoy watching striker rather than wrestling/BJJ. A HW division with Ngannou has champ will be 10x more exciting than Stipe's reign. Ngannou would likely defend more than once a year (probably 3 to 4), and eventually clear the division.

If you're rooting for a more exciting HW division, then you should be cheering for Stipe to lose. Which will happen soon, whether to Ngannou or Jones.

I bet you will be the first one complaining when it’s Ngannou vs Blaydes 3 at the end of the year. And other than perhaps the last few rounds against Ngannou or the 3rd DC fight, can you please explain what has been boring about any of Stipe’s title fights? Is a 30 second ko really more exciting than a five rd battle or a come from behind ko victory? Or are you just another Stipe hating troll?

I think they're going in the wrong direction with this since Gane is emerging. If Stipe would rather fight Jones and if Jones is really serious about HW this time, then make Stipe/Jones right away. Even if their first fight would demand a rematch. Ngannou vs Gane, if Gane gets past Rozy, would then be possible.

Because Stipe vs Jones and Ngannou vs Gane are the fights fans really want to see. They're also the biggest money fights, which the promotion aims for. Those fights set up the next good fights as well.

If you ask me, the champ should have the least amount of say in their next opponent. Everyone is gunning for them and they are supposed to fight the most deserving fighter. That should be the obligation of the champion. Cherry picking the "#1 contender" just screws with the whole system and holds everyone else up.

I think I agree. You should be running the gauntlet and facing the top contenders instead of cherry picking the easier fights. Champions shouldn't get to do that.

Stipe's not really a boring fighter per se (aside from the Ngannou fight), but he barely ever fights. He fights like once a year. And I don't see that changing if he somehow survives both Ngannou and Jones. He's old and has taken a lot of damage. His "breaks" will continue until he retires.
