Because they are [rightfully] trying to normalize their presence in society. They've been persecuted for, well, forever.
Yup.
One thing I've never understood is the whole, "They're shoving gayness in our faces!" complaint. I have never once felt that way at all, and I really have no idea where people get that impression from.
It's usually followed by, "Why do they have to TELL us they are gay? I don't care! I'm straight and I don't come out as straight!"
Well, yeah, if you ever talk about your spouse, then you have come out as straight. Every straight major celebrity has "come out" as straight by dating in public. The only difference is, gay people are put in this weird position where they have to basically tell everyone ahead of time before being seen with their significant others so the tabloids don't freak out.
I'll agree that some people marching their kinks into the street are pretty fucking gross. But there's nothing wrong, at all, with the visibility of LGBT folks.
I agree, and that's why I don't go watch gay people march when I know that will be the choice some of them make, and I don't look up pictures of their marches on the internet, like apparently a lot of outraged people enjoy doing.
Edit: Lol, just realized there's already proof of that in this thread. Here's a tip for everyone, if you don't like looking at pictures of gay people at parades, don't google gay people at parades.
