Can O'Malley stuff Aljo's TDs?

I just don't see O'Malley being able to maintain a comfortable distance allowing him to snipe and set his feet. The kind of pressure I feel Aljo will be coming with won't allow Sean to set. Last place he wants to be is pressed up against the cage grappling with Sterling, Sean can't muscle Aljo.

I forget who I heard talk about it recently but they said they have little hope for O'Malley vs Aljo, that O'Malley outspokenly chose to avoid tougher tests and wrestlers, so we haven't even seen him face a guy like Aljo yet. And that it could be a disservice to himself, you need those tough tests and different looks.

Yeah UFC has largely seemed to prioritize preserving his shiny record & putting them in there with guys he can likely KO (aside from Yan & Munhoz imo) he should've faced tougher tests to be better prepared for his first title shot.

Last 5 O'Malley wins:

  • Petr Yan (close to a robbery)
  • Raulian Paiva
  • Kris Moutinho
  • Thomas Almeida
  • Eddie Wineland
Even overlooking the controversial Yan fight, those are not the last 5 wins of a title challenger lol.

I think if O'Malley wants to win this fight he needs to catch Aljo like moraes did. If he doesn't, Aljo will be able to control the fight whether it's against the cage or on the mat. I have Aljo by sub rd2

No but he couldn't stuff Yan who has underrated grappling. He still won that fight. It was how he got to his feet and outlanded in the standup. Also he wasn't as easy as people believe to take down either. Who knows if Sean was even training TDD for Yan anyways?

I think the fight will be mixed with Sean staffing a few TDs, keeping range, getting back to his feet, and test his cardio in later rounds vs Aljo. Aljo is close to Yan's grappling and Sean was still in there with him. I think training for TDD against Alijo will make it even better. It's weird how sherdog acts like O'Malley has no skills.

Seems unlikely.

I think the real question is if he can get back up.
I think the real question is whether O'Malley can catch Aljo with a big shot (e.g., knee or uppercut) and make him more hesitant to shoot. Aljo's grappling is levels above O'Malleys, so even if O'Malley fights off the first couple takedowns (or pops back up), eventually he'll succumb and be slowly drowned (or backpacked and choked unconscious). O'Malley needs to get Aljo's respect with big shots early.

This is going to be a great test of Sean's footwork... Aljo doesn't really have many options apart from getting inside, and Sean's a really good sniper - he could wall just pick Aljo off if he doesn't get silly with the spinning shit...

That's what'll decide the winner of this fight. I'm rooting for Sean but I have a feeling Aljo will chainwrestlef*ck Sean to a decision.

But if Sean can stuff TDs...watch out fellers...

Hell no....

Not enough of them. He's gotta land a big shot early or he's going to be wearing Aljo on his back until he gets subbed.

I think O’Malley can stuff the takedowns, but he won’t be able to avoid the back takes.

aljo’s takedowns are decent. But his back takes are elite. Sean is gonna have to defend the back pack for 5 rounds and hope he has enough time and luck to get a ko.

I still hope Aljo loses. Dude is annoying and it would be nice for him to fade back into obscurity.

I really see O'Malley giving up his back for an easy submission win for Aljo.

Thing is will Aljo be able to finish O'malley on the ground? Cause if he gives O'malley 5 chances at the start of every round O'malley will eveulentually catch him.

I got O'malley KO'ing Aljo. I just think O'malley will be able to defend himself when he gets taken down and he will eventually catch Aljo

He might, but Aljo's real skill is making contact with a failed takedown to find the back.

Seems unlikely.

I think the real question is if he can get back up.
Not really, Aljo has some of the best top and back control in the division. Sugar Shins staying down is pretty much a given. It's all about how many TD's he can stuff and who will gas first.

Sean can definitely embarrass Aljo while riding his bike if he stays disciplined on the black line with lateral movement and pivoting. Big fucking if tho, but that's his route outside of a big KO strike early.
